maybe, i dont know rugby or soccer. This is football. Backfield is basically considered behind the Offensive Line. So in the way you said it, it basically sounded like you meant your RBs/FBs had 30 tackling and 20 stamina. I knew what you meant though. Pretty obvious you were talking about your DBs.

It makes more sense than something that is almost an extension of the LoS

Field hockey too, not sure about polo or more obscure field sports. Yeah I realized what I said after tpat's post lol

If you are talking about the offensive backfield, I agree. There is also a defensive backfield in football.

One could say "Our DE's spent all day in your backfield".

They could also say "Our OL spent all day in the opponents backfield" or "Our WR's shredded your backfield"

We would say "Our OL spent all day getting to the second level" or "Our WR's shredded your secondary".

And yet they are called cornerbacks and defensive backs, because they geometrically play at the back of the field. Some terrible nomenclature going on.

Defensive backfield is not an uncommon term in colloquial use, it just isn't technical.

Also you would think the secondary would refer to LBs which are primarily between the line and DBs. DBs should be called the tertiary.

Well being someone who has been playing or involved in football for 21 of my 26 years, never have I heard someone refer to backfield and be talking about the defense. To each his own I guess.

Well if, for example, you searched google for "football defensive backfield," you would see articles using it for dozens of pages.

Im sure you would. But thats with the word "defensive" in front of it. You just said the word backfield. And same with what I was referring to. Joke is overplayed now, but just cause you only said backfield. When someone refers to backfield 99.99999999% of the time its the offense. Joke over.

Anyone else besides MD have a shot at winning this league this season?

ITP: Corey shows his emotional attachment to the word "backfield." Geez no need to get "defensive." Besides, that reply stemmed from this post of mine, in which I did say defensive backfield.

Anyways, there wasn't really a joke and my original question was mostly serious.... It would explain if anybody else was building for an elite all interception BACKFIELD.
