in tier only option is dead.

45 vet teams (lol at long island knights showing up last on mine)
Diddy - take your FBS example and apply it to a pool of only 45 teams where almost all the better teams will play each other 1-2 (or even 3) times.

15 pro teams -- just barely 1 league. Can't really have tier only there -- and yes -- the CPU teams will likely screw with the ELO gains of teams playing them.

18 Journeyman teams -- same thing

36 seasoned

54 soph

42 rookie

Don't you want to earn your spot at #1 instead of it being handed down? This is the first time the vet ladder overall #1 will actually be fought for in a while, it's been getting old seeing the #2 just take the thrown when the 1s fold. Win 27 games again this season and you'll probably end up where you start now, I like it.

then what's the point in ladder AT ALL if you're outside the top 5... no trophy, no year-to-year motivation...

might as well toss the ladder towel halfway through the season if you aren't in the top 10...

talk about a waste of time... how am I THE ONLY ONE THAT SEES THIS?!?! I feel like I'm taking crazy pills

I agree with you IF it gets reset each season. However Stogie said it is only getting reset this season.

Back to my question, is it an every 10 season reset?

No where does it state seasonal, though many 'reached' to believe that. As I have gotten older it is amazing on how far some people go to 'read between the lines' to match their agenda. Not calling anyone out, just stating that it's amazing to me in this current age we live in, that it has become so simple to make assumptions rather than finding facts.

I would like to hear from Staff if this is intended to be a seasonal reset or a 10 season reset or was it a one time to clear up the old mess of elo now that the K value has been adjusted so much.

If they're not going to reset it each season, then it really is a "troll Tdiddy" move by the developers

You do realize the ranking today is wholly irrelevant right? Everyone in the tier is tied for #1.

To a degree I agree with TDiddy. They needed to do something to level the playing field but completely flattening the tiers seems a bit overboard. I thought the discussion was leaning more towards preserving the end of season rankings but closing the gaps in ELO. That would give last season's #1 team a slight edge over #2 and #2 a slight edge over #3 and so forth. It would allow #1 the opportunity to defend their position instead of having to re-earn it.

That said, the ladder needed a correction and I fully expect this to be a pretty exciting season.

If I were "the staff" - I would do exactly what they did. Reset it - and then decide toward the end of this season if it is going to be every season or not based on how well it works.

Exactly my thoughts on what I believe they were intending to do with this.

Partial reset from every season hereafter. Where everone's ELO is adjusted towards the Tier average.

General gist of it is this. Besides your win/loss/tie record, ELO is a score you gain or lose depending on victory or defeat. You gain more ELO the higher someone is ranked above you. Likewise if you lose to someone nobody expected you to lose to, then our ELO loss is greater than it would be if you had very similar ELO ranks.

If you lose to someone who is far higher than you in ELO, you will lose some ELO, but hardly anything.
