Rob was doing an all run team just a few seasons ago. He is who I got a lot of my stuff for the Grape Apes from. He shared a lot of that with me and then he disappeared lol.

Rookie predictions, Special Ladder Game Edition!
NO CPU games as per usual

Nevada Wolf Pack (#1) vs Buffalo Bulls (#7)
Buffalo Bulls so far have been much more successful then anyone anticipated. No one here expected the Bulls to go 5-2 so for that they deserve an apology. Rotten luck drawing Nevada though. The march to the sea continues.

Brooklyn Brontosauruses (#2) vs Scranton Scramblers (#3)
Scranton has faced the much harder teams despite having a very similar record. Only tough opponent Brooklyn has had is arguable Buffalo Bulls. Meanwhile Scranton had to deal with a who's who of the most notorious teams in rookie.

Prisoner's Dilema (#4) vs The Chosen Gators (#10)
If any of us actually game planned this might be a different story.

Wiggle Warriors (#5) vs Jarvis Street Coffee Squirrels (#12)
Another case of where the records are deceiving. Jarvis Street has had the much harder schedule.

Assisted Living V.2 (#6) vs Miami Sharks (#14)
It's said that in ladder games you are typically either the hammer or the nail. I don't think Assisted Living is the nail this time bois.

HOLY GUACAMOLE (#9) vs THE REAPERS (#17)
Butler vs Butler. Two very good coaches but I see Butler coming out on top in this one. Butler had had his team around longer so his overall chemistry will be much higher than Butler's. Butler also has the more experienced coaching staff, and the better roster. I think this will be a very hard game for Butler.

Cleveland Cowboys (#11) vs Midcoast Chaos (#19)
Midcoast has a new owner, but cowboys have a full roster, 6 Superstars, better chemistry, and the better overall record.

Davis Empire Tigers (#18) vs Fairhaven Blue knights (#21)
Davis Empire should pick up the W here. Better roster, much harder schedule so far.

Prediction record so far 21-9-1
70% accuracy rating

So after 7 games, you're 55% rushing and 45% passing with a 1-6 record and have scored a total of 19 points.

You have a roster of 3 WRs, 2 TEs, S* FB, S* HB, and a 2nd non-S* HB and a non-S* QB.

In 2TE & 2WR, you're 63-37 mix and 19.6% of plays. You're Passing for 1.2 YPA and have a Sack Rate of 13% due to PAs.
In 1WR & 2TE, you're 77-23 mix and 15.7% of plays. You're Passing for 3.2 YPA and have a Sack Rate of 20% due to Screens.
In 2WR & 1 TE, you're 84-16 mix and 29.9% of plays. You're Passing for 5.1 YPA and have a Sack Rate of 5% due to PAs.
In 3WR, you're 14-86 mix and 22.5% of plays. You're Passing for 3.4 YPA and have a Sack Rate of 17.5% due PAs, Screens and not having a S* on the field.
In 3WR TRIPS, you're 28-72 mix and 11.5% of plays. You're Passing for 3.7 YPA have a Sack Rate of 8.8% due to not having a S* on the field.

You shouldn't be running many 3WR plays (if any) because you don't have enough WRs on your Roster. Just because I (and others) tell you to Pass, doesn't mean you use plays that don't match your team roster and build strengths. 34% of your play calling is away from your strength. You rest your S* FB (if he needs it) by running 2TE & 2WR sets, not 3WR sets.

The above shows you don't understand Offensive Play Calling. That's why I offered to run your Offense. I'll put up more points in one game than you have all season.

You should be Passing out of the first 3 sets listed. Do you need to be 90% Passing? Probably not, but 76% rushing across those 3 sets isn't going to put up huge points in Rookie.

Your choices are:
1. Compress your Set usage and improve your play selection as well as play mix and you'll see good results.
2. Or let me setup an Offense for you. You'll see big results here.
3. Don't listen and keep losing with a team that can't score.

Want help or what?

While Butler does have several advantages, many strong teams this season have underestimated the unpredictable CPU builds that are sometimes genius beyond the scope of our mortal minds. In the hands of a coach like Butler these could be the weapons he needs to defeat a coach like Butler.

Best write up I've seen in a long time, 10/10 4chan

Well, I genuinely tried to beat myself and put in max effort on builds and playbooks for both teams. While Scranton does have a lot of room to improve and this is not the final version of the team, pure passing is a lot harder to stop. Pure run still works and is playoff-viable, but it relies too much on specific play calls and favorable build matchups (i.e., teams that overcommit to stopping the pass) to give the best chance to win. Any team that didn't go 100% on stopping the pass has a chance to stonewall a pure run team if they plan right. It's still strong, though - just not the best. In my opinion, at least.

Here's my two cents on it

The things is the good coaches know how to stop everything. The problem the good coaches have is guessing what plays you're gonna run. If you go all pass/all run it makes their guess work a lot easier. So statistically, if you want to think about it this way, it's twice as easy to plan for a team that's only does one thing. So in a weird way Scranton is basically playing the game on hard mode. For you coaches have to worry about "Will it be an inside run or outside run?" which is still a very legitimate worry, but the advantage of knowing that if will always be a run practically guarantees you a success rate of 50% in terms of defensive planning.

Another disadvantage is that a lot of pass/run plays are typically considerer to be really good, but only work for teams that do both. HB dive from single back spread is one that comes to mind. TE crosses and TE Deep corner also comes to mind for this. The reason all these plays are so successful when used correctly imo is because they all give the illusion of being a pass when it's really a run or vis versa.

Something I feel that would really take your offense to the next level is a couple of solid passes out of formations you would typically QB Rollout from. A couple of TE Flags from WR trips would be monstrous. Those generic Big I passing plays would also be hell to plan for as well. For a lot of these passing pays WRs would be fairly open too as no one would be expecting it, so I think you could get away with only having maybe 40 points or so in receiving hands/consistency, ignore catch in traffic entirely, and get away with it. It would give your opponents more things to worry about when planning for you and as a result make your run game even more dominant.

Yep, agree with this.

In later tiers all pass is easy to stop, i have ran an all run team. if built correctly as long as every formation is widely varied in tendecies its hard to stop. if mutliple plays are dominating and a team tries to focus on it the other way will win.

Look at that. Went back to ball control, run the ball and play good defense. Got a shutout and victory

https://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/game/785697

This play sums up my run offense this year. Could have been a 50+ yard TD run that turns into a 1 yard loss. All Megatron had to do was keep running outside and turn the corner and he was gone. He had Super* FB Beastman lead blocking with one defender that could have possibly caught him (SS). Instead, for some stupid reason, he turns and runs into his blocker and gets tackled.

There were some good morning games. Brewed some coffee and enjoyed them all. Rookie has some damn good defenses.

Prisoner's Delima/Gator game was the best. Came down to a 4th quarter FG. Delima defense is legit....shutout 3-0.

Was pulling for Scranton (so I could knock off a top tier team later in the season ) Brooklyn has come out of nowhere and impressed me. Curious to see how good they do in later tiers with zero super*s.

Nevada keeps rolling...destroying a decent Buffalo team. That defense is sick. Has given up only 10 points in all 8 games this season against good competition.

Team Beta got a scare, as it was only up 10-0 at half against a CPU team, but pulled away late in the game.

We have some potential championship and/or first round of playoff matchups tomorrow. I would love to see some general consensus on both of these games!

#4 Team BETA (6-2) vs #5 Scranton Scramblers (6-2)

We all know what Scranton does but will Team BETA be able to shut it all down? They are both undefeated in League games. Who wants it more?

I know Pheep will gameplan hard for this one. I got Team BETA in a close one. 14-10

#3 Prisoners Dilema (7-1) vs #1 Brooklyn Brontosauruses (8-0)

These are two of the best in the Palm League and in Rookie Ladder. Will Brooklyn be able to keep its undefeated record? Will the Prisoners prove that there loss was a fluke?

I know Brooklyn wants to keep its undefeated record bad. I got them. 28-21
