We should have better plays to run vs that set, its been too long when nothing we have has decent chances... now it looks like 3WR is the same. I don't understand why any changes made in the past 5 or so seasons have to be so drastic...why can't we get just moderate changes? We go from extreme to extreme and have no balance. I should be able to put in a defensive plan that has a moderate chance at success, just like offense. Not just throw things and hope for the best. What you all had last season with defense being so over the top is how its been on offense for a long time. It's damn frustrating. And to top it off, I had my first 7+ TO game today which is one thing I hoped would just die unless it was just a fluke...but last season almost every big game I had I suffered inane amounts of TO.

The whole sim is very frustrating to me. I'm a very patient and loyal person, having been here since season 7, but I'm starting to wear thin.

i think you are one of the better DCs in the game but you seem to just mostly use the same few plays, usually blitzes. i am not sure if you scout per game or just run with mostly a default scheme but you cant expect shallow will blitz, c1 wide dogs, lb dogs, etc, to pitch shut out games on defense. to be blunt, it worked last season for sure, but mostly because the sim was broken.

my suggestion would be to dial back the blitzes to just 2nd/3rd & long or only vs specific formations like if a team passes heavy 4wr. i think you would have alot more success using more coverage and less blitz. anyway just my 2 cents

They need to fix some things that have needed to be fixed for a long time......team has cap to sighn a player but cant then has to ruin chem to sighn said player. Then wait for someone to fix it most times games into the season......known issue thats being ignored........has been an issue for years......fix it....WTF..... that’s one of several known issues they havnt fixed.......why? I’m pissed I spend a pile of money to play this game and some of these issues are rediculous.......I love playing but at some point I’m going to quit spending money.........you guys wont risk spending money to grow your base and you screw us with major changes and no full reset offered to fix builds........eventually this is going to die.......take a risk and advertise.......you would make a shitload of money. Short of that fix the shit thats obviously wrong and shouldn’t be that hard to fix.

No, I actually gameplan every single game except vs cpu. How would I get to be one of the better DC if I only ran the exact same plays for everyone to exploit?

Last season there was hardly any need to run anything different because defense shut down everything. When I pick something now, its because the limited data I have so far with the Scout Tool tells me those plays are what's working best... which isn't saying much with offense being strong again. When I say there are formations that have no real weakness, its because they do not. The 2TE set for example is silly... before all the changes last few seasons when when everyone thought the game most balanced it was and is again the hardest to defend IMO. Like if this is how offense is gonna roll for the next 5 seasons, I'd build a new offense specifically for 2TE set and just spam the same 8 or 10 plays all game long. And as far as 3WR, its OP atm too (or at least looking that way so far).

Someone mentioned a paper, scissors, rock type game and atm we still don't have it. I pushed for slight to moderate adjustments on offense last season, but nothing is done in moderation in this sim apparently. Slight adjustments might have pushed the sim to a balance that we've never had with both sides of the ball having reasonable chances to succeed. Instead you see plays like BI Counter Sweep Left averaging 9ypc for some teams and nothing stops the play that has a reasonable chance vs the pass as well (say TE Cross that's 80% comp, or SB Big TE Flags at 75%)... so it's go all in shutting down rush or pass and hope you don't get burned on the other. I'm not saying make defense OP, just there needs to be reasonable amount of balance to both sides.

This game is just plain ugly right now...

We were involved with a human vs human, top 5 in-tier, 10 interception game today

Just in case anyone thought maybe blocking interactions stop and start during a play allowing sure footed to fire on an oline guy. I was curious anyways. It doesnt. Sure footed a complete waste on offensive line.

You can down vote that statement all you want, but it doesn't make my point less true... I see teams averaging 14ypc with plays like Trips Pitch Right, then passing effectively while defense plays that can not reasonably stop the combo. I'm all for offense working effectively, but we need defense to do so as well. There should be a balance, then builds and coaching will shine the most and that's where the game should be IMO.

Also, I'm against this crazy mad TO explosions we see. Coaching goes out the window when you see teams lose because they had 5 to 10 TO's... I mean if this is due to dot building, that's great, I'll adjust my next players to fit the mold so to speak... but if its due to RNG, that's lousy. I know its a thing again having see guys starting to pop up with the same problem.

fwiw i dont down vote anything and im not disagreeing or arguing with you, just offering advice. there is absolutely plays that shut down big i counter sweep left and other things from 2TE set, but they will be weak to one or two other plays out of that formation (maybe te crosses or etc) so you have to pick your poison and shut down the biggest threat out of that formation.

i was the person who kept suggestion rock/paper/scissors gameplanning and what we are discussing is an example of that. set a gameplan to counter two/three plays but leave yourself vulnerable to two/three plays. there is not, and should not, be one defensive play that shuts down everything the other team can do from any certain formation. that happened last season and thats why last season was broken.

Yeah, totally not fair that teams built to cause TO's cause a lot of TO's. Bullshit.

I wasn't directing it at you, Sov, in regards to the down votes or I'd said as much. You're generally pretty straightforward. I do appreciate the advice, I was merely pointing out that I already do those things and it's broken despite such.

I'm also aware about having to pick my poison and that's my complaint.

When the sim is set in such fashion it heavily favors offense... defense has been and is again difficult to gameplan for. It should not be this way, there should not be OP combos on either side of the ball. As easy as it is for an OC to just call the same combos on almost every teams, I should have the same ability on defense to have a reasonable chance at countering those combos. This just stopping one or the other is B.S. that has went on every season I've been here except for last season when defense was just silly. Why does an OC get to run the exact same combos constantly with no fear of being slowed down because he knows that only 1 of the 2 options gets stopped? Why bother to DC if I know that certain runs mixed with certain passes will move the ball regardless of what I pick? My point is it need to be fair.

I'm just frustrated I guess.

How many team are built for that, Corndog? It doesn't look/feel like its all just builds, but I'm willing to admit I'm wrong if that's the case.

id guess a lot of teams build for turnovers. especially since you need a lot less to tackle hbs over the last 2 seasons.

If it's always happening to you but never for you, chances are that it's something on your end.

But I mean, your HB with carry grip in the 70s, with 35 heart has some games where he fumbles a lot. Your QB with 40 pass power and 40 heart has some games where he throws a lot of interceptions when throwing deep all game.

This doesn't seem very shocking.
