Veteran tier couldn't get any more boring than it was last season. Well I mean it could have, if they wouldn't have done a seasonal reset.

So here is my question? Where did Bort say its a seasonal reset? Since all K values and penalties are in place I have to believe this is a one off reset. There was just entirely too much difference between teams and no movement. I am for a seasonal ladder don't get me wrong. I really don't see the reason for a career ladder with the way this game is formatted.

career boosting money loss... with the ELO reset, what's the motivation for long-lived vet teams? Any team coming though the ranks should roll until their team fills up with games then just reset

QC and Bulldogs are now the longest-living vet teams, and there's a reason behind that... others lose motivation due to the mediocre format. A lot of these guys give me grief, but they have zero motivation to stick around... even less so now

If FIU somehow played and upset Alabama next season, there would still be 50 spots separating them MINIMUM

I follow it closer than most. I'm an avid TCU fan and alumni. I'm keenly aware of how blueblood bias impacts rankings.

That's the one thing that's still wrong with college football's ranking system. GLB2 is one upping that system by removing the bias.

then what's the point in ladder AT ALL if you're outside the top 5... no trophy, no year-to-year motivation...

might as well toss the ladder towel halfway through the season if you aren't in the top 10...

talk about a waste of time... how am I THE ONLY ONE THAT SEES THIS?!?! I feel like I'm taking crazy pills

QC and Run are the longest vet teams.

Everyone else lost motivation being behind a bunch of CPU teams for 3 seasons.

edit: and both QB and Run almost reset this offseason

The one good argument you have is that chemistry, which already sucked, now sucks harder for a recycling team since they can't build an elo shelter to weather the chemistry storm.

Madison may be the best team this season, but chemistry will prevent us all from finding out.

That's a chemistry issue though, not a problem with the new rankings format.

sure there is...

I'd say there's a very good chance we lose to both Logzilla and/or Inner City first few games due to chem, yet beat them at the end of the year, much like we did with Richmond/Run GLB last season...

play catch up and finish around 5 despite probably being able to manhandle some of the teams ahead of us... noone will say it, but some people other than me will not be happy with final ladder rankings at all

"told you so" will be in play, but that saing is a pet peeve of mine, so I'll never say it. I watched the Clippers/Rockets game with a random guy at a bar tonight and he said the game "was over" with 9 mins to go with the Clipps up 12 and I called him a total moron to his face for calling it that early... anyone watching the game knows the outcome.

It seems like you would prefer to get to the top of the ladder through attrition, just merely waiting out the other teams and getting to the top by being around longer.

The new set up would make each season something to fight for.

in my opinion - career boosting is just WAY too expensive....that's one of the reasons I didn't run another season on stunners.

QC has taken a few seasons off -- and romo has been collecting a flex stipend for like 8 years now...

Diddy was willing to spend to finally achieve that 2nd gold trophy (this one in the ladder) and Bort has crushed is dreams (though in my honest opinion - bulldogs are still one of a handful of teams most likely to win #1 this season).

no, there's a middle ground...

under the old system I would be #1 unil I lost something like 5 games more than #2... I truthfully don't want that and feel like it's a major flaw

truthfully, I should drop to 5ish if I lose to logzilla/inner city (as in lose 1 or 2 of the first 3 or 4 games)... now i'll be 30ish with the new system and be fighting my way up all season if I lose to one or both, despite the regulars knowing how good my team actually is. A reset is an absolute overkill... as nerdy as it sounds, it's like Ultron wiping out the human race to "evolve humanity" or whatever, for whoever watched the new avengers movie.

Again, its not thirtieth. Its "2nd" in a big tie with everyone else that start 0-1.

Omaha lost 5 games in rookie (think we were as far down as 17th?) before putting together 13 straight to finish the season and ended #2. Losing some early games isn't the end of the world.

so don't lose.

your commitment to vet is impressive -- and despite how annoying you generally are ("most annoying" would be much, much more accurate than 'most hated') - you and the bulldogs have been great for GLB. You care about the game and have fun here. That is valuable.

go game plan. win your games . there is and should be no 'legacy' in the game that gives you a 5 game cushion at #1 just because you've paid for your team and done well in past season.

This is really or the best -- if you earn #1 this season (and you very well might) - you will have EARNED it....not been handed it. In spite of your fears right now - this is going to be a fun season at vet.

we'll see

let's bring this thread up in a month or so

I promise I'll admit if I overreacted, but I don't think so... teams should have a preseasonish ranking. I would bet my top 10 would be much different than what what GLB2 thinks the top 10 is.
