If I come to your house and steal all your shit, you're not going to say "Ah damn my fault for not buying a lock. GG mate, hope you enjoy it all"

No dumbass, i would be upset and hope they caught the person who did it and persecuted them to the full extent of the law. But if i didnt have a fucking lock then yeah..im still going to blame.myself..that doesnt mean itll be all fine and dandy id it does happen you god damn idiot. Plus assuming they xatch him and find my stuff...okay what harm did that do? What if my insurance covered it? Its not the same fucking thing so stop acting like it is

Im not sure what your end games are...these people dont give a fuck about you..are you just trying to sympathize or what? I dont understand why so many of you dont understand that you have greater accountability for everything you do if you are famous...and something like nudes being leaked is easily prevented. DONT FUCKING TAKE NUDES. It really isnt that hard, ive met girls who wont take nudes..and they aeent famous, should they be taking nudes?

Its ridiculous the self rightous and contradicting bullshit being spewed in this thread. IT IS NUDE PICTURES. Its not a physical break into a home, or your entire bank account was stolen, or your bank got bombed, or anything remotely close to anything thats been compared to. Its pretty fucking simple. Dont take nudes..and if you do take the necessary precautions to not allow anyone to see them..ESPECIALLY if you are famous.

Cry a fucking river everyones seen you naked..you took the pictures..you didnt have to take the pictures. The scumbag that hacked them should be thrown in jail..but at the same time they are still accountable for their decisions to take nude photos.

One would think celebrities could afford a printer that is capable of printing pics.

Lets try the transplanted argument thing one more time in hopes it works.

You have greater accountability for everything you own. Something like a break in is easily prevented. DONT FUCKING HAVE THINGS PEOPLE WANT. It isn't that hard, I've met people who don't own anything.

See the issue? Even if it's shittily secured, that doesn't mean it's even remotely the person's fault for it being stolen. On a practical level, yeah it would have been a hell of a lot harder if it wasn't on the cloud. But even on the cloud, it does not mean that it's okay to be taken. If I have my sofa sitting on my lawn while I paint my living room, it's shittily secured. But that doesn't mean that its okay for someone to take it and it doesn't mean it was my fault it was taken. It's the fault of the person who took it.

Do you understand the issue now?

here's the thing: I don't think that anyone is saying 'it's okay the pics were stolen'. of course whomoever stole them is 100% culpable.
what people are saying, though, is that steps can be taken to reduce your chances of being a victim of that, steps that can minimize your risk. one of those steps is to not store pics in an online storage bank, no matter how 'secure' they profess they are. The people who fell victim to having their pics stolen did not take these steps, and thus, were at a higher risk.

what I find odd here is when I think back to a thread that was posted some time ago, regarding tips for women to minimize their risk of rape. things like not walking alone down dark alleys at 2am. when bushi then came on and said something like 'why don't we just tell men not to rape, instead', several of you went apeshit on him, telling him 'of course the man is at fault, however, we are simply saying that there are ways to minimize risk'. however, in this case, when it is suggested that these women could have minimized their risk by not saving the pictures in an online location, some of you are aghast at that. what's the difference?

Yeah, the issue is youre equating nude pics to a 5000 dollar tv or something and its not the same fucking thing.

Youre also implying im saying its alright to steal..which ive said multiple times already that its not okay and it wasnt okay and it is that persons fault for stealing...but again at the samw time dont fucking put nude pics on something accessed by the internet. Its common sense...where are all the other celebs nude pics? Are these the only ones in hollywood with nude pics? Or maybe they were just more cautious with their shit? Which is the whole point ive been making..dont take nudes or be held accountable...its not the same thing as leaving your couch on the fucking lawn.

And nude pics of Jennifer Lawrence need to secured very well. I would leave an old couch on the lawn to paint my living room. I wouldn't leave a pile of diamonds. And that's what those pics are. Precious, precious fappable diamonds.

I am kind of torn on one thing, though.

I mean, it's a blatant invasion of privacy, and I feel that the person/people that did it should be punished. However, I do kind of get a sour taste in my mouth about how much it will mobilize the FBI and other government agencies but how regular citizens would be completely ignored if the same thing happened to them.

If it was a smoking hot grocery bagger at Krogers, would the police even return the call about stolen virtual pictures? Let alone tear down the internet in search of them?

Whole 'nother issue. They wouldn't have been targeted if they weren't famous, but the justice department is also ONLY involved because they're famous.

I don't go "apeshit" on anyone.

I think there is a spectrum of good, better, best decisions. I also think those decisions are based on information you have or should have.

I know everyone is suddenly a technology security expert after this happened, but there is little reason for those people to suspect their pictures would be compromised like that. I would compare those blaming the victims to a person saying a woman should not travel at all or they subject themselves to rape.
