ever notice how nickelback haters can never actually come up with a musical argument regarding what makes nickelback bad? you know why? because they can't. it's always just "they're terrible" "they're the worst" "they're music is so boring". well guess what, I'm talking about why Nickelbacks success worked. you're not gonna target everyone of course. 20 million people however is still a big number. and if you're a guy in a band and want to make a living making rock music, you should follow there teachings over, say, some piece of crap band like the mars volta.

You still haven't answered my question, where in the hell did you come up with this unbelievably bizarre notion that there is a perfect "structure" to a top 40 song? It has now morphed from "success - record sales and blowjobs" to creating utopia. Nickleback and linkin park are showing us the way to no war and no crime. You can't be fuckin' serious.

BTW, I couldn't tell you a single Nback or LP song, I'm sure I have heard one, but I don't know a single person with one of their albums, so I don't "hate" their music, I'm just dumbfounded by your notion of aesthetics. It's high comedy.

I don't like their sound, plain and simple.

It doesn't go beyond that, I don't think they are anything special and just appeal to a poppy rock sound which is formulaic in selling albums (something you have a hard on for apparently).

the 'structure' nickelback is using is pretty simple. aaba is the overall song structure...and people have been using it forever (edit: in pop music). it's basically the go-to format for pop music, and it has worked p gud.
