Corners these days have it so much worse than back in the day though. It used to be that you could touch and hit a WR any time. But now with pass interference and the league wanting high scoring offenses, CB's have been handcuffed. Let Deion play with the same rules the older guys did, and he would be just as good.

What made those corners good was the fact that they could do it all. Guys like Mel Blount and Dick Lane couldve played lb or DE in the league.

If deion played back then, he wouldnt of had the success he had with todays rules. Todays rules is what made deion respectable as a cover corner.

I have to disagree. With the old-rules Deion would have been allowed to really get on people. He would have had a lot more interceptions b/c he wouldn't have had to worry about pass interference being called on him, he could go up, create contact, and take the ball away.

We'll have to agree to disagree because deion was a giant softy on the field.

Im not trying to put down deion, but I hated the fact that his tackling was horrendous and he was afraid to take a hit when extra yards were there.

and i can agree to disagree because, like you said, it wouldnt be the first time.

Deion did what he did, the thing is he did it better than anyone ever. He is not the prototype, but he was so special in coverage, he broke the mold.

How so ?

Mel Blount from 1972 to 1974 didnt allow a single WR to touch the endzone. He didnt do anything special. He was a great coverage DB just like everyone i named before him.

Okay okay, no more arguing.

How about talking about 2 things we all can agree on:

1-The Chicago Bears are the best and most storied franchise in the NFL.
2-Devin Hester is hands down, by far, the BEST KR/PR ever seen in the NFL or any other football league for that matter.

We have someone in this league that played against Devin in HS, and shut his ass down.

In the 70's the db was allowed to maul the WR Most of the standouts of that time couldnt perform now that the WR are untouchable.
