Fixed it for you.

He might be top 5. Not even close to being #1.

Please remember there was football played before the 1990s.

Deion is not the best CB ever... I'll agree to top 5. You have to be able to tackle in order to be the best CB ever.

Off the top of my head, I'd definetly put Darrell Green & Champ Bailey ahead of him. Also remember that Deion only played a full season 4 times in his career.

Dick "Night Train" Lane (Lion, couple other teams)

Mel Blount (of steel curtain fame)

Darrell Green (fastest man to play in the nfl, 19 seasons with the skins)

Herb Adderley (11 years, 11 championship appearances with the pack and boys)

Michael Haynes (Apart of the Raiders of the 70's. 9time probowler)

Rod Woodson (needs no introduction)

were all better than deion sanders.

He was better than champ bailey. Deion was a good cover corner but couldnt tackle and was afraid to take a hit. The reason he was given so much love was because he was a media darling. He was a solid player and HOF, but def. not a top 3, let alone a top 5.

I suggest a lot of you to go back to the 1940's-1980's and study some of the old players. You will be amazed with what you learn.

Well cerneo, i have to give you props. Over the last 5 weeks, my power ranking system with teams that were ranked higher over lower ranks winning 64 times and teams not winning with higher ranks over lower ranks 12 times.

I'll bet that the predictions are much more accurate come playoff times when the system has had 8 games to adjust

Well it'd be kinda late by then wouldn't it?

Anyway, the whole "power rankings" thing is deceptive. You can have the best team and still loose if you give it up with some depth chart adjustment or stamina adjustment or tactics adjustment...your "lesser" opponent can suddenly figure out that their otherwise good team on paper is being held down by such and such tactics, stamina, depth chart problem and change that.

I understand the desire for the power rankings...for some it is another E-peen to stroke, for others they want some other metric to figure out the true relationship between their team and a potential opponent.

Truth be told the best thing is to just do it in your game planning, take each team as they come and not worry so much about the metrics.

agreed - but it is fun to pass the time in between games!

I believe it was 14. His rookie year. He was also known for the Night Train Necktie, which was outlawed (tackling by the head and neck)

he was slated to play defensive end, which is why he wore number 81. Dude was a man child with rocket speed. multiple time probowler, all-afc, all-pro. I believe he left with 67 int's for his career.

I would not pick any player to play CB in a draft before I choose Sanders. Everyone mentioned were alltime greats, but Prime Time is a whole different critter.

He is known for playing with the lions as well chief. He played for 3 teams in his career. Lions was the first to come to mind. I believe he spent 4 years in detroit, 4 years in LA, and 6 in Chicago.

Dunno if Woodson makes the top 5... but missing Haynes was unexcusable on my part.

How so ? Because he danced in the endzone ? He made cool commercials ?

HE was very impressionable on this generation, thats for sure. I would still take mel blount over any corner. That guy didnt give up a TD for 2 years when he was with the steel curtain. He was a man playing with boys at CB.
