Calculus 2 is the absoloute worst.

Still dont get why I need it. Upper level ES classes? No fuckin problem. Even the ones they list calc 2 as a prerequisite for do not have you use any form of calculus at all.

I'm studying to become a journalist. So glad I didn't need to take super advanced maths. HATED calculus but I'm good in math so I did well without hardly trying

my major is environmental science

You could argue that we dont need even calculus one for just a basic ba in environmental science. I can see why they require it though, but calc 2 is just them stretching required classes.

Now if you specialize in something then those circumstances may be different.

Math is weird.

Not that many jobs actually use a great deal of advanced math, but the critical thinking and problem solving skills acquired from math translates pretty well into most jobs.

Like, most math I actually do while programming is pretty basic algebra with a touch of trig, but the creative problem solving skills from math translates pretty well into programming.

Mine is Human Biology. We had calc as well. I don't fking understand the need for it. I guess when someone's bleeding to death, I can integrate a DTDS with the flow rate of their blood and that will somehow help.

this is something i have never bought into completely. Not generally anyway.

I think critical thinking and problem solving comes to different people through different means (applied math and calculus problems I am putting into two separate categories here). I mean, I kinda see your point.

Alot of the classes I have, use calculus to come up with the formulas they use, but nobody actually expects you how to derive the formulas, just as long as you know how to apply them and their basic uses.

If jobs require reasoning skill from math then we should be reading and practicing Euclid's Elements. That's definitely the best one for logical thinking and reasoning through a problem

Nearly got into a fight in a doba parking lot all because this asshole was too fat to fit in the driver's side of his car after I parked next to him. The guy was actually waiting for me to get to my truck when I was leaving and the funny thing is I was almost perfectly centered in my spot, he was the one with the shitty parking job, and an average overweight person could have fit in the door

Fuck with him then do the Zombieland thing and just run a big circle around the parking lot, he couldn't catch you

So after arguing with my dealer for weeks since buying an SUV, I won. To preface this, the lady who bought the car before me returned it after 11 days because of the 4wd not working, and they said they fixed it.

I figured it was just the switch until I started asking around with people who knew more about it and got a whole range of answers. I told the dealer and they assured me I was just an idiot and it worked. I got in a heated exchange with their sales asshole until they agreed to look at my car for $50. I said fine, and still had to listen to an hour of 'no, really, you're an idiot, it works'. They take it back, I can tell they're expecting to have it for 5 mins then bring it back out. 10 mins in I see the mechanic motion one of the sales people 'assisting' me over to the door, they have a convo, and both disappear into the back garage area. Side note- they have a fancy ass 'make any type of coffee you want' machine, I had like 5 cups.

An hour and a half later, the mechanic comes to talk to me. Turns out I was right. Whoever it was (it was conveniently not documented) that worked on it last fucked it up hard. The switch was fine (meh) but it needed a completely new vacuum actuator, encoder and transfer case motor. To apologize, they offered to replace it, parts and labor, for free, and waived my $50 checkup fee. In total, according to their estimates, that's $1,100 in parts/labor for free.

God damn that feels good.

tl;dr hold my diiiiiick

The one downside to that story is the parts won't be there till next Wednesday, there's 2" of snow and ice outside now, 4" more expected, and we aren't supposed to be above freezing for at the least a week.

Love when you're applying for a job and they give you a 200 question 'Are you lazy? Will you do this Job? Do you hate this company and it's policies? Would you murder a coworker?' questionnaires like they're really expecting to weed people out with it

It's not your answer that matters, it's the way you answer, tbh
