Yes, having great builds help but it has a lot to do with tactics. Funny thing is I have been dropping hints for the last 5-6 seasons about how to improve your own passing game but nobody wants to listen (that is their loss). They just want to have Bort wave the nerf wand and make it better. Until people wake up and fix their build mentality, and fix their own tactics they will continue to struggle.
Lets review:
1) Oline: If you build your offensive line to run block (like most do), don't expect them to pass protect very well. Bort has babied all of you along for seasons now and nerfed the shiz out of DE's for seasons due to the cries of people building pure run blockers.
2) Don't build Drew Bledsoe w/ a weak arm - Most of you don't care about mobility w/ in the pocket. You build high throwing, vision, confidence, yet ignore strength, speed, agility and wonder why your QB can't hit your 150 speed WR's deep and takes 20 ticks to drop back and start his progression
3) Don't build pure speedster WRs - You need a variety of WR builds on your team.

4) Fix your AI - Do you really expect to complete a high percentage of passes throwing Bombs all the time when your QB doesn't have time to pass because you have Bledsoe w/ a run blocking line?
This is all common sense stuff but many fail at it for some reason.
5) Dont build towards the sim, build towards what makes sense, and build towards a goal. Don't change build plans half way through. Its a sure fire way to have average players and teams.
6) Your OC/QB tactics need to be on the same page. The best thing you can do is hope your OC is the owner of the QB on your team.
7) Watch the progressions, watch the coverages of the team you are playing. Its not a one fits all. You should/need to change your progressions all the time if you want to do well.
