back on topic. Bort's game. Bort's rules. People all play the game for different reasons, and though I would never decline promotion and don't really understand how people do, it's within the rules. You cannot blame someone for playing by the rules put in front of them. Not everyone is here for the same reasons. Some of the teams here will do anything to win. Others of us just want to have fun. Most of us are somewhere in between.

To be honest, I'd support an elimination of the WL at this point, and support an end of the season World Tournament of some kind.
