Yea, unfortunately this is going to lead to more "quasi-gutting" where the team just fields enough human players of appropriate level to not get kicked down and doesn't try to win any games.

No matter what you change, it's always some way around everything.

There is a new financial system coming that will make tanking & gutting in all forms worthless.

If you tank the season and sign a bunch of level 1 CPUs, you can avoid being promoted and keep your stadium and cash.

Am I missing something here? Do all level 14 teams get promoted regardless?

The only way you get to stay put is if your entire roster is below the level cap and you finish in the bottom 2 in your conference.

Unless you're planning on dumping all your human players, it ain't gonna matter.

If at least 8 teams get promoted, what teams are going to fill the spaces left behind if not enough owners request demotion?

obviously this only really effects lvl 14

I thought every team in lvl 14 promotes no matter what, UNLESS you request a drop back down

i foresee lots of caps 14s loading up with newly created players with the free players this offseason. then it'll be a fight to lose every game so that they can stay in 14 next season and have a season of stadium advantage next season.

he who fails to study history, is doomed to repeat it.

On the flip side, all these teams planning to gut have no incentive to keep any cash, so all their players should receive pretty big bonuses if the owner is half decent.

Kind of an under discussed side effect of this whole thing: There will be whole crops of players who will "financially benefit" from these guttings where the stadium isn't kept. Creates an uneven playing field yet again with equipment, though really only slightly.

Just food for thought.

No, you aren't closing a "loophole," you're making a rule change. It's possible to make legitimate arguments for that change, as some have, but I obviously disagree with those arguments and have articulated my own rebuttal. It just annoys me when someone denies the obvious or calls things something other than what they obviously are.

You are right. They shouldn't take away what was built. It should last forever and be free forever like real stadiums. OHNOWAIT... GLB should let you keep your stadium and money, but they should make the upkeep charges on the stadium so high that you go bankrupt and lose your stadium and team instead?

Upkeep costs would be preferable to a reset. Hell, scrapping the entire financial system altogether is something that probably 99% of GLB would support.

Bottom line is I, and many believe, that when we are spending *real* money to help our player try and reach maximum potential, that we don't want to beg for EQ or be put on EQ rations from a cash strapped team.

Yet again....EQ is changing and this change won't hurt EQ. EQ is going to be easier to get than ever, from what I understand.

But no matter what....it is just EQ. One piece of EQ, for example, isn't going to make or break a career or a season. Bigger issues to worry about this.

Exploit/loophole/"something that never should have been there"...whatever. This rule is good for the long term of the game. Rules happen...new ones added, some removed, some changed...it is life. All games like this do it. If you cannot handle change then these games are not for you.
