I don't think the complaint is really that Bort isn't spending 4 hours a day on the forums. The complaint seems to be that we (meaning the player base) are not being kept in the loop about what's going on. For instance, hazy (who I think is fantastic) was locking FB threads and insisting that they weren't bugs. Now the player base knew that there was a bug and kept insisting that there was a bug, but it took days of banging heads against the wall before the bug was finally acknowledged.

this information is wrong...hazy locked the threads and reported it to Bort...he didnt think it was a bug, but didn't say it directly wasn't...he locked the thread because he didn't feel it was worth a discussion if it had been brought to Borts attention.

It should be noted many of the "file clerks" of GLB are loyal customers who just want the game to be better, while some of the "trusted" inner circle have conspired to essentially break the game with collusion in the past and are generally just out to run in packs and harass the userbase together.

well I wouldn't say days. After a few more users talked to me about the issue, I added a statement to the locked thread saying I'd post about it on the test server. That was four hours after the initial complaint was posted. Bort rolled back the code to solve the problem 28 hours after it was initially reported.

I'm not always perfect on determining whether an issue is a bug or not, but I do tend to listen to people if they make valid points, as was the case with the FB issue.

lol what? everyone can't have an opinion? more than a few people have said the same thing. I don't know why it is so unbelievable.

I think I did a pretty decent job of disproving it with multiple examples before Bort even posted in the thread denying it.

I respect your opinion, but I have mine from some of my own games.

So I guess we can just leave it at that.

FWIW I just got back from a long day of work and didn't even read the thread.

Which is a stupid way to handle things. Even if something is acknowledged to be a bug, accumulating as much data as possible is the best way to identify its particulars. Plus, locking those threads just resulted in many more threads either discussing the same issue or complaining about those threads being locked. Lock-frequency in general is a huge source of unnecessary friction between the mods and the player base at large.

You don't have to spend anything. Apply for a mod spot, or spend some time talking with some of the current testers, participating in discussions they are having. Approach things calmly and rationally, taking any selfishness out of the equation. Be proactive, but don't be a jerk.

There are a lot of users on the site. I can't personally talk to them all. Particular users have gone out of their way to show interest in improving the game, or the forums, in a respectful and constructive way. TBH, it usually tends to start with a lolmod job somewhere, these days, that moves on to things that are more involved over time.

I applied for a mod position and never heard back.

It's because of your opposition to slow-building. You have been black-listed.

even if we can't post in that forum we could talk about it here. Than an issue could be brought up in the private forum by those privileged individuals who have post rights.

99% of what we are discussing is related to posts made on the main server, either through bug reports, or ideas from you guys. Feel free to talk about it here, or in suggestions, or in bug reports. If it's good info or ideas that a lot of people agree on, or if it's a legit bug, it will make it to me in some fashion.

Keep in mind, I do read forum stuff here and there, even if I don't make a post about it.
