Ramonce Taylor and Henry Melton LOL... Are you serious? Wait let me get this straight. You think anybody that scores TDs on short yardage shouldn't even have any of their TDs count? So that means the only TDs that count are from long plays? And you think TDs should be discounted when discussing greatness? So the only way to determine greatness is yards? And you think TDs are anymore of a team effort than yards? They both require team work. Guess what...If an offensive line doesn't block for a QB or RB they would have an extremely difficult time accumulating yards. Sounds to me like that's a team effort. If a WR drops a QB's pass guess what, the result of the play is 0 yards. The entire game of football requires team work. No part more so than moving the ball down the field. So I don't know why you want to put so much importance on yards when discussing individuals, but very little on TDs, turnovers, or efficiency. They are all important parts of the game, but there's one big difference. TDs put points on the board. Turnovers prevent you from putting points on the board. Yards do neither. You can win the game if you have considerably less yards than the opponent, but you will never win if you have less points.

You're doing that thing again.

No, dumbass. You're jumping around and chasing your own tail. You continue to bite your own tongue by saying the opposite of what you've said before.

Figure it out.

No tell me!!!! What you highlighted in bold just proves my points that yards require just as much, if not more, teamwork than TDs. Therefore there shouldn't be anymore importance put on yards than TDs when discussing an individual's greatness. Doesn't sound like it contradicted anything I said. Please explain to me how you are interpreting it because I am more than happy to clarify things for you.

You're obviously a hater. We aren't even talking about him being in the NFL, yet you still want to keep bringing it up. Keep on hating and keep on sucking. You seem to be excellent at both.

Exactly we started out with nfl talk. Im still on it cause your saying he will make it in the nfl. We all know he will be in the college HOF but any idiot can do that and suck ass in the pros.

Im hating because you cant just get off of tebows nuts. I dont care that were having a shitty season...every team but like 2 out level us. We didnt recruit and we dotn care for this season.

No way the Big 12 had the worse pass defense in NCAA. Thats just bogus. They had the best QB's in NCAA that could be a reason of why defenses sucked ass...and in my opinion they actually had the best teams and probably the toughest conference in the NCAA despite Florida still beating OU for the title game.

Actually I didn't say that at all. The point is you can pad your numbers and short yardage TD's are a very easy place to do so.

Yardage is a more accurate measurement of your skills than TD's. It isn't perfect as even with yards it doesn't measure everything but it is far easier to take some bum and turn into him into a 10 TD guy (see Taylor and Melton) than to take that bum and turn him into a 1,000 yard back.

Teabag is a TD machine because he plays QB on a great offense.

LOLOL. Ya their best teams looked great in bowl games. Florida handled Oklahoma. Ole Miss handled TTU. Texas struggled with Ohio State LOL. Missouri struggled with Northwestern LOL. If they really had the best teams, as you say, their best teams would have won the bowl games.

Ok here it is for you in black and white. The Big 12's top rated pass defense was Colorado's way down at #73 in all of college football. There next highest ranked pass defense was Nebraska at #89. LOLOL. TTU #95, A&M #96, OU #100, Baylor #104, Texas #105, KSU #107, OSU #110, Kansas #115, ISU #117 and Mizz #118. LOLOLOLOLOL

There are only 120 teams in CFB. The fact that all of the Big 12's pass defenses rank in the bottom third of the country shows that they had horrible pass defense. There were only 4 excellent QBs in Big 12. So you're telling me 4 QBs made these defenses rank among the worst in CFB? Sorry, but your wrong. We saw what the top passer Bradford did against Florida's excellent defense. As you guys might say, "He put up very Tebow like numbers, except without the 100 yards rushing."

Am I saying the Big 12's passing success is attributed only to horrible defense? No, I'm not. They do/did have some excellent QBs, but their stats are definitely boosted by the horrendous defense played. If you watch alot of Big 12 games then you would know nobody even runs press coverage on defense. There is almost always a 5 yard cushion between the CBs and WRs. They are just asking to big picked apart through the air. The Big 12 might be the most exciting conference to watch, but that doesn't translate into being the best. They obviously couldn't cut it against OOC competition in bowl games. The SEC is easily the best conference in the country.

So Porch, I want to know this, do you think Tebow is one of the greatest players ever? Let's say top 50. I would think anybody that becomes the first sophomore to win a Heisman, the only true sophomore to win a Heisman, and a player that will surely be up for a Heisman for the 3rd consecutive year, coupled with 2 championships(and a chance at a 3rd) and all the records I mentioned at least deserves a spot in the top 50.

Wow! This thread was painful to read!

Let's state this for what it is and just figure out something else to argue about. I am rather neutral on this whole Tim Tebow issue. I'm not a Gator fan or hater and I for one have no idea if he is going to be a good NFL quarterback or not. I watch a decent amount of college football and think that Tebow is an excellent QB for Florida's offense. Would he be a stud on another team? No one will ever know. He is a Gator and will most likely stay a Gator. Numbers don't lie though. You can argue back and forth about who is better, but when it comes down to it, he is going to be remembered as one of the better college QBs based on that and that alone. He will further cement his college career if they come back and defend their title, which they have a good chance of doing. Will he be a good NFL quarterback? Most experts agree that he will not and they know a lot more about football than any of us on this message board. Only time will tell.

What we do know is that he has done very well for himself in college and we will have to wait a few more years to know if he was falsely accused of being a gimmick or a bust in the NFL.

Thanks for listening. You guys are too funny and have spent way too much time doing research to back your arguments.

BTW, I hope that Percy Harvin is the real deal as a Viking's fan. He might be a product of that gimmicky offense in Florida. I'm hoping that he is the real deal and can help take some attention off of Peterson. Lord knows he needs it!

I've missed your avatar I too hope Percy Harvin works out for you guys. It will help that your Vikings have an excellent WR, Bernard Berrian, to take pressure off him. And having 1000 defenders in the box to stop AP will leave a lot of space for Percy on the outside. I know one thing is for sure, Percy is going to fly like the wind on that turf!!

Who will Tebow be throwing to this season?

Aaron Hernandez, Riley Cooper, Carl Moore, David Nelson, Deonte Thompson, Andre Debose, Frankie Hammond Jr., etc, etc.

Hernandez will be one of the top TEs this season. It will hurt losing Harvin and Murphy, but we have some veteran guys stepping right in and some playmaking underclassmen. Hopefully Debose can come right in and add some explosiveness we will lose with Harvin's departure. We might try to get Jeff Demps involved at WR some in the slot. His speed would help stretch the field. And he can be used as the motion guy like Harvin was last season. Don't really know though because he missed spring football with track.

Graduated from AU recently (down year) and have no love for the Gators, but have to admit that Tebow has done an outstanding job there. He is a stand-up guy and talented. Cant say that about their cry baby coach but whatever.

As far as targets for Tebow, Florida is known for their WRs and next year should be no different. Good Luck and WDE!
