From my limited knowledge im guessing you can, but its not exactly good for the rest of the vehicle (transfer case etc etc).

Still looking for a new (new to me, looking at some 10-20 year old cars) car, had a couple questions. People are very reluctant to include the price of the repair in the ad for their cars. How much does it cost to fix any of these:

Heater core leak (?)
Idler pulley, belt (just says belt, I'm guessing timing belt)
Timing belt and power steering hose leak

They are not including the cost because the repair may be more than the car is worth with the timing belt. If the belt broke on a 15 year old car, it could have damaged the engine, and you basically have scrap.
