Hate to "defend" GE - but the honest truth is: extremists on both sides are indeed, mentally ill. That includes nutjob liberals - and it includes so far alt right idiots.

The current problem with our discourse - We paint all 'democrats' with the same brush we paint nutjob liberals. And we paint all non-democrats with the same brush that we paint alt right idiots.

We don't care about knowing anything - we just reach for the closest and simplest label and slap it on.

We have to be close to another major culture shift...because the one we've been using for the last 10-15 years is absolutely broken -- and ridiculous if any of us will actually stop...take a breath....and think before we label.

Exactly.

Agreed. Super easy to paint the "other side" in broad strokes because extremist voices are often the loudest, especially in the media. That breeds divisiveness.

Txsteve has the exact point to all of this. The system is broken and something has to change on how our society develops schema’s which then develops stereotypes a cross all races.

I agree with GE about conspiracy's, but they extend much farther than just our government that there's too big of a case to even attempt to inform people. The people who try just seem crazy as fuck

Conservativs believe in less government but more on the economy, i don't agree with their views on the social side, and a lot of them are actually disguised reactionaries, "make america great again" seems way more reactionary.

One of the problems is that people aren't honest politically, with their own views and the others, if i just say "there is racism in the world and it needs to be fixed", i am automatically labeled as a left socialist/communist.

Also, one can have different ideas, a government can take left and right measures, it isn't so black and white.

Sorry i didn't understood what you meant by what Bernie says, you mean balanced positions between left and right?

To me the ideal model is the Nordic, at least the better one, you guys should take a look on the nordic capitalism.

people like to throw the nordic system out there but it can't work in the US for multiple reasons. not only would it not work here, it's starting to fail there as immigration starts to hit them. Socialism CANNOT work long-term, it goes against human nature.

Who is talking about socialism? Are you claiming that the nordic system is socialism? And how is the nordic system already failing?

See, thats the problem, when some people see just a sign of an approach leaning a bit more towards the left, they instantly label as communist/socialism, discrediting all debate and arguments, claiming "it doesn't work, socialism is bad".

And why wouldn't work on the US? Of course there are a lot of particularities and study to be made, diferent culture, size, population, the economy itself, simply "importing" the system wouldn't work, but there are a lot of good to be observed and adapted from there.

Here's a little reading on the subject for ya

http://thefederalist.com/2015/08/11/scandinavia-isnt-a-socialist-paradise/

Socialism fails always in the end. Again if you want socialism and want it to work be orepared to be mostly poor as a whole. And it always leads to a communist ideal for countries who stick with it. And even those countries ar now trying to rebalance to capalism. Even China. Russia already has. All thes eNrodic socialist countries you speak of. They all find in the end it's not a sustainable model.

I'm sure they don't see it that way. But when you're looking at maybe 1% are the ones doing it I'd say they are disrespecting their peers. Many might be ok with people kneeling. But I don't think very many are doing it themselves. Thick skin let's them not be offended. Maybe the left should take notes on that.

I agree. Don't mind them wanting to bring awareness to injustice. But be respectful about it. That's how I feel exactly.
