But yeah Saskatoon has been too much this season. I think Phoenix has a shot though!

What would be cool is if Senior League's didn't cut players at the end of a season from ACTIVE agents. Then players could stay on teams for multiple seasons. Eventually roster's would fill up across the Senior League and some good rivalries could start!

This season's Saskatoon is really just a test to see if good player building agents can skew the outcome of games with a loaded roster running a CPU playbook. And it looks like a lot.

EDIT: Saskatoon's Pass D stats are pretty damn good. 214 Pass Targets and only 82 receptions for 38.32% against (per the D stat page). http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/leaders/team/1229

I should have a good amount of players to put ona team next year. Just a matter of getting offers for them all from the right team.

So I'll start a poll of what team everybody thinks C'MON MAN should sign with(he will become a MAN again). I'm starting early so I have a good chance to get on that team at season rollover...

GO!!

Mid Season Review

After 7 games, this has probably been the most interesting and competitive season of the Senior League so far. There are more human players than at any point, and more parity than I could have expected. There are a few clear divisions of quality in and among the teams though.

The Clear Number One:
1. Saskatoon is the first team in Senior League history to have almost human players on the roster. The only player that is CPU controlled is the kicker. This quality across the board has inspired probably the toughest defense in GLB history, surrendering only 6 points the first 6 games of the season. Can anyone break through? If the Sleepers have a weakness, it's a relatively ineffective passing game. If they were to fall behind early in a game they might struggle.

The Contenders:
2. Phoenix comes into this season with an explosive ground game and an impressive, if mistake prone, air offense. Their defense could best be described as "break and take", prone to giving up long drives and scores but also good at forcing turnovers. They are the least predictable of the top teams, losing to Eugene but beating Washington by an impressive margin. They face their toughest test of the season in 3 hours

3. Washington went 6 weeks before falling to the Retirees. They have one of the best passing games in the league right now, and have an impressive win against Eugene. They are a solid all around team that can give Saskatoon a tough test.

4. Eugene has the clear second best defense in the league right now, and put it to good use. Their pass rush in particular is head and shoulders above even Saskatoon. They have given up two losses to tough teams, but have played them both close. A win against Phoenix will give them a real chance at the playoffs heading into the second round of divisional games.

The Wild Card Wannabes
5&6. Leeds and Jacksonville play today, and the winner will still have a realistic shot at the playoffs. Jacksonville relies on a fantastic run game, while Leeds is definitely more of a passing team. Jacksonville's marginally superior defense will probably provide the difference. The winner will still need to upset at least one of the top 4 and hold serve against lesser teams in order to be in the wild card chase.

The Also Rans:
7,8,9: Cincinnati, Houston, and Nashville round out the lower middle tier of teams. Each team is solid in some ways (the Dinosaurs lead the league in passing and the Naps have the best WR in the league) and glaring holes (Houston is the league worst defense, Nashville's QBs are atrocious). They won't surprise anyone but could ruin a wild card contender's season with an upset victory.

Relegation Zone:
10,11,12: New York seems to be a perennially terrible team. Maybe they can be renamed the jets? Hartford and Louisville are following strong seasons with what I guess could be called rebuilding years, if that were a thing in CPU leagues. Either way, these teams are garbage, and will probably not win more than 3 games a piece this season. At least none of them have a chance of going winless in a season?

Games of the week and key questions
Phoenix vs Saskatoon: Can Phoenix score? Will Saskatoon need to pass? Who will make big plays? What QB will feel the pressure?

Leeds vs. Jacksonville: Can Jacksonville keep running like they have been? Which defense will show up? Who wins the turnover battle?

New York vs. Hartford: Can either team break 10 pts? Will I fall asleep watching the game?

Woah. Phoenix looked to have the win but the Sleepers had other ideas!

Yeah that Phoenix game was incredible! Great plays all around. Let's look at the questions:

Phoenix vs Saskatoon
Can Phoenix score? Yes, they scored early and often, putting Saskatoon on their heels from the beginning

Will Saskatoon need to pass? Yes, and many of their late game 3rd down conversions came in the passing game

Who will make big plays? Both teams had big catches and conversions, but Saskatoon's PR TD and long TD run were clearly a cut above

What QB will feel the pressure? Both QBs were heavily pressured, but Pa Puckett clearly underperformed, throwing the pick that allowed Saskatoon to ice the game.

Jacksonville vs Leeds

Can Jacksonville keep running like they have been? Leeds held Jacksonville to a distinctly average performance on the ground

Which defense will show up? Both defenses played fairly well, limiting their opponents to 16 points or less

Who wins the turnover battle? Jacksonville took the ball away 3 times and didn't give it up once. This probably provided the margin in a two point game

Hartford vs New York

Can either team break 10 pts? Yes, both

Will I fall asleep watching the game? Yes

Key Questions this week:

Can Washington break their slide?

Saskatoon will probably crush them, especially after their demoralizing loss to a bottom feeder. The key will be Washington's pass game

How many points will Phoenix score against NYLH?

I'm putting the over at 42

Who will run for more yards: Barry Allen or Ben Woody?

Barry Allen is the flashy pick but Ben Woody is a Senior League Hall-of-Famer. The leading rusher should take the Naps-Grandpas game. EDIT: HUGE FREE AGENT ACQUISITION: BEN WOODY NOW PLAYS FOR THE WALKERS. Sorry Nashville.. maybe Marshall will get a few RecTDs?

Can Hartford redeem their loss to New York last week with a win against Louisville?

Two weak teams in a row (the polar opposite of Saskatoon); maybe they can pull one out? EDIT: With Ben Woody the win seems much more probable

How many sacks/hurries will Eugene get?

Many.

Honestly, we should roll into the playoffs from here. Washington is struggling but Jacksonville has a tough remaining lineup.

Seeds should be:

1. Saskatoon
2. Phoenix
3. Eugene
4. Washington

Saskatoon vs. Phoenix for the SHIP. Senior League is in cruise control mode until that game.

So Saskatoon just set the new record for biggest blowout. Almost gained 1000 yards from scrimmage, to go with 6 takeaways. This might be an untouchable record.

New York now has the two worst blowouts of all time, taking incompetent to a whole new level

Awesome distribution of the ball in that one!

I bet C'MON MAN can break it if he gets the right pieces around him.

We're headed to the final game with little on the line. What to watch for in the last regular season matchup:

- The winner of the Eugene vs. Washington game should get Phoenix in the first round. Saskatoon has been a juggernaut so any chance to avoid them is good.

- Ser Perceval will probably take the gold trophy for pass yds and TDs, but could be unseated by a good enough game from Pa Puckett
- If they stay on their average YPG, we should have 3 1000 yd receivers this year. Robinson should pick up his 2nd consecutive Gold Trophy for Rec TDs.
- With only 16 yds separating the two leaders, the race for #1 Rushing yards will come down to the final game. Riddick, the current #2, is splitting carries with two other backs which will make catching up a challenge. Death Tank could make a run for either major trophy with a sufficiently strong game
- Most defensive trophies are wrapped up, but currently Menace to Sobriety and Dale Ellis are tied for PDs at the top of the league with 15. Three players have 14 each. Truly a wide open field headed into the final game.
- Trevor Cave is in the lead for his 3rd Senior League Pancake trophy, but Corner Stone and Jumbo Elliot are right on his tail. Again, anyone's game.

Looking forward to the playoffs!
