Lol! I just went through your games (you posted a private scrim before btw)

Game, Pancakes, RevPancakes
1, 22, 16
2, 49, 27
3, 71, 30
4, 94, 30
5, 60, 27
6, 31, 42
7, 72, 23
8, 65, 32
--Sim change--
9, 27, 38
10, 20, 30
11, 23, 28
12, 22, 43

Average before 28.375, after 34.75. Hardly dramatic; oh and your latest ladder game half of your rev pancakes came from 3 guys on the other team who are all built to stop the run (one is a superstar DT with early bloomer and run stuffer... soo yeah). It's also rookie so general variance of who you play will have a big impact on pancake numbers.

Take the average again without the Journeyman team game. The variance is now 30%,, how is that not huge, especially when coupled with the fact my pancake numbers have dropped off so badly? If I am getting RevCaked 30% more and Pancaking 60% less, how is that not totally crippling my offense? I refuse to believe that only a "5 point change" in blocking power was responsible for this

Yeah they got better at it a far time into the game.

How it is now gives defenders psychic 'powers' considering defenders always think the RB is going to run outside/run straight up a sideline, and indeed runningbacks always do this.

So why would we give them that power if there is no counter?

Agreed, why should the defenders be pathed to go where the HB is going when the HB cannot make a cut upfield? He's doomed for a TFL unless all the linemen magically hold all their blocks AND one of the defenders gets stuck behind one of the blocking interactions

This was the first time in 4 seasons that I think I've seen my HB do this, normally he heads straight to the sideline like Forrest Gump before he turns it up. Could be wrong and it happens often, but it stood out when I watched the game yesterday.

It's not just a 5 point change; you've played completely different teams including a few with monster D-Lines built to stop the run. You're not entitled to 50 sacks a game just because. You're also in rookie so you're going to see wildly varying results anyway.

Happens a couple times in that game. That was the game he posted. I haven't really looked for it otherwise myself but doesn't even give the WR a change to engage.

Just in case you missed it Corndog ^

seemed to only happen on QB rollouts that game - so my guess is the issue is there.

And what nobody wants is to see one or two plays take over the game on either side of the ball. As an OC/DC I want to feel like the game is a chess match and if I gameplanned well and put the builds i wanted in the right places good things should happen. Arguing numbers (and real life) is only going to really make this a huge circle jerk of stupidity.

This sounds eerily familiar, as if we just spent the past 3-4 years having this same argument over, and over, and over again.....

Unfortunately Corndog doesn't consult with us before making decisions.

Uhhh, I am actually....

To tweak this statement. GLB does not use 'game moderators'. These functions are covered by your support folks that GLB has called admins.

GLBs moderators are purely forum moderators. Not paid staff and not in any way given roles of a game moderator.

the concern is we get into a death spiral of rebalancing chasing this new implementation.

there are ways to get around the wall of text issue as well

my suggestion for whatever it is worth is to try to fix things by changing as few core elements of the sim as possible.

In this case the issue with QB rollout is that there is no real long term downside to having the QB run the ball 20 times and since there are inherent advantages to any play that adds a blocker shortcomings in the defender AI are most exacerbated on those plays.

I would revert since the change was done midseason and put in some scaled changes on the scrimmage server in between seasons and delay a few days for testing. Try out just having tackles of the QB on sweeps kill the QB morale - create a substantial penalty that emulates 'injury' and see what level that needs to have to balance things out.

work on AI as a separate issue - like the changes to the coverage let it get tested out in a way that is disconnected from the use/abuse of QB runs until it is working as intended before implementing

also - announce the actual changes for the upcoming seasons before off-season points are awarded if possible to allow teams to adapt to the changes

just my .02 dollars

My problem with an arbitrary "bonus morale" damage applied to the QB when they choose to run is this is a "fix your build" thing with defenses. Showboat exists for everyone to choose as an SA. It does exactly what you're asking, and has the bonus of also smacking the rest of the offense too. Getting it to bronze is a pretty good idea, and really cheap.

It's the same thing with the complaining about WRs smoking poor agility CBs on flag routes right now. There is an SA called "Chase Down" that's designed to handle this specific problem. Very few CBs have invested in Chase Down.
