if you look at the defenses he was running....at least in the ones I looked at he had 4 defenders committed to the screen. That should be enough.

If they made the route go 1 yard deep and the HB didn't become a lead blocker it would be much more realistic. You could play it 1-on-1 with a good tackling dot and take your chances or have the FS in support to play it a little safer. As it is now (and has been for a couple of seasons) it's the safest play for the offense to run while also being arguably the most dangerous play for the defense to try to defend. That's not a good combination.

Your probably the best DC in GLB that can't defend the screen. Keep working on it and one day you'll get over that mountain.

But it's not like the screen got recoded last night and was some mystery today. We live and adapt with what we've got. Is it a mess? Sure, but it's been that way for enough weeks to be able to make a D to stop it.

Season 20 is the season the offense has the upper hand. Some seasons it swings the other way... But this season the Offense definitely has some 'money' plays they can use to pick up positive yardages - especially when factoring in the builds at this level.

The fact remains that Lincoln won the game. And jd refuses to accept the fact that his defense isn't as good as he thinks it is.

To help you with that, maybe you want to look back at the post from before the game where I mentioned how I hate playing bhall because his offenses always give me trouble, then think about whether or not that means I'm pissed because my "defense isn't as good as (I) think it is," or if I'm mad because there is a broken play that I've been complaining about forever and I just lost to someone who ran it a preposterous 24 times in one game. Seriously, if you need to look like you comprehend basic points before posting then you can always PM me and get some help beforehand.

Do you really think that the QB should have to throw a bad pass to get a loss? Where that pass was caught is basically where the normal screen should be caught, so that if you play a blitzing defense and have your CBs exposed you are at risk of a dot breaking a tackle and getting a big gain.

Or do you think (as in your 2nd example) that any defense should be committing 5 dots to cover the WR screen?

And dropping the RDE shouldn't be the only solution to the problem imo.

Everyone could run this play and I don't personally think there is an ethical issue with running it or anything close to that. But anyone arguing that this play is not broken (even if you are really awesome at stopping it) is kidding themselves.
