The people who get ripped on are rarely "poor neophytes". To the first point, new players aren't in Pro leagues. Secondly, the people who DO get ripped on, are generally the people who think they are superior to everyone, morally, maturiy-wise, and at dotball.

i'm not going to stand in the way of you guys emotionally raping some asshole to the point of tears.

but you've got to admit that there are people in the pros that don't have as much internet experience as you guys... else why would they fall into your trap so speedily?

Actually, a lot of the mods don't disagree. But a lot of the mods don't feel bound by the actual rules. They feel free to invent their own.

but i'm specifically talking about the mods that come in here and piss you guys off.
they're convinced they're just doing their job, right?

lmfao no, not at all. Most of the time they're trolling users they dislike.

if you say so.

i'm obviously not in the CPL as much as you guys, so i have a lot less first-hand experience. all i'm saying is that from my perspective, i honestly don't think those mods are on a witch-hunt...

if they're not on a witch-hunt, then they're fucking terrible at appraising situations and should be demodded forthwith

I agreed 100% with this sentiment until yesterday.

If you have access to quzur's retarded little forum, I have posted there (and in the public forums) defending the mods several times. I thought it was ridiculous to imply that mods would go out of their way to ban users.

Then yesterday happened. My opinion has changed, drastically.

(note that i'm very much playing devil's advocate, since there's no one else to speak for the opposition in this PF.)

Pretty sure that we actually need to know what the "opposition" wants.
Do they want it solely GG dotball talk, and any negativity gets banned? Bans for poor sportsmanship? I've actually seen people complain about bad dotsmanship. How do you force the community to suddenly start caring, and only be positive about the dots?
As for segregating the forums, that just ends up with one being dead and/or being trolled, and the other one, the "real CPL", dying off.

good point.
my guess is that they don't just want 100% dotball talk... and they even want some good natured smack talk from time to time. i think the main issue here is that the so-called opposition just simply doesn't feel safe posting in the CPL currently. in their perception, they'll just get flamed with incessant inside jokes no matter what they do... so at first they get angry, then they try to reason, then they appeal to authority, then they create alternatives, and then they give up.
i see segregation as the only way to stop that treadmill... and while the GG forum might be dead, i certainly don't see it getting trolled for long (universal forum rules would apply, right?). further, the "real CPL" certainly wouldn't die off... my entire point here is to find a way to achieve the segregation without that ever happening.

You can't hold CPL responsible for the perception of people. If they don't actually get attacked then it's their fault if they don't feel safe.
NOW STOP IGNORING MY POSTS DICK

but i'm not talking about those people. i'm talking about the once-burned-twice-shy crowd.

i'm a half-dozen pages behind at this point... cut me a break.

Going to have to tend to agree with this. Stickying threads about Cobra Kai, and unstickying threads that were already in place, then deleting any thread asking about it seems pretty far from "trying to uphold the forum rules".

okay, fine... i didn't see any of that.

but i do know of at least one mod who received a complaint, went in to try to uphold the rules, we essentially told to GTFO by everyone (including VT), got fairly pissed about it, and lodged a complaint with pallow. he eventually decided to never venture into the CPL again (so mission accomplished there, i guess), but he was fairly torqued over the situation since he was only trying to do his job.

and no, i'm not going to mention his name. trust me or don't... i don't care.

The blame for this falls on the mods who initially went in and modded like a sack of dicks DUCY

I'm sure we all know his name anyway so it doesn't matter.

Wanna know something else? The forum was a better place because of it.

They disagree with what? We need more than that than ust saying "they dont think you follow the rules"
You need something more substantive.

there are two sides to that coin, of course... i'm not sure the burden of proof is on me, especially since i'm just reporting the claims of others

What about the 20 locked threads from last night that empirically do nothing mentioned on the "against the rules" list?

i didn't see all the threads, but i did note the NMV was noting why he was locking threads.
and note that whether or not he was correct with those locks is a separate discussion -- the point is that he thought he was doing his job.

So if I nuke canada and say I felt that it was my duty as a patriotic american it means I actually think it was my duty as a patriotic american?
please refer to the PM convo I posted with him where he blatantly admits that he was not following any sort of rules.

but i'm not addressing the veracity of the claims yet... i'm just pointing out that you guys aren't automatically right and the GG-crowd isn't automatically wrong.

and the reason why i'm stressing that point is because it's an entirely futile conversation to figure out who is actually right/wrong here. there will always be this disagreement, which is why i'm proposing a segregation.

I do have empathy, and I'm often kind to the newcomers. The exception being the raging douches. I'm working on my Ghandi level, but I'm not quite up to forgiving tooldom.
But, as AD keeps screaming at you, I'd love examples. I think people are interpreting the incoming stimuli as hate/day ruination because it's different than what they're used to, but the only people that receive harsh treatment are the SIs of the world.

let me know if the recent examples aren't enough.

i could dig up other ones, but i think the details would just get hazy and we'd end up in an argument about what actually did/didn't happen.

plus i obviously don't have all the facts on the table since i'm not always perusing the CPL.
