Yah, at first I thought we would be alright with the VA's considering we knew what to do with them, and we would possibly gain as much % on attributes as others, but our pre level 40's don't have the option to go +15 in VA's. While it has helped us beat the not so great built high level teams by even more now, I believe it hurt us badly against the elite teams with descent quality builds @ high levels.

As for the early seasons, since I was here...

You did NOT need to balance a build early on to be effective. Not the speed craze created by Flames54. Speed was then nerfed to a degree, agility being forced in there. But that was easy enough to correct. Even this season, flames' unbalanced build is tearing up Canada PRO -- the speed over all else theory still proves correct depending on team strategy. If you take a look at an elite team like the West Scranton Invaders, just watch their team speed on defense -- its scary...I think the Benitos are built a lot like this as well, since they share GM's.

As the game progressed, you needed to balance to be effective. First you didn't need much tackling to make a tackle on wrap up....but you could still cause an inordinate amount of fumbles on wrap up. Then tackling was required, and there was a whole or partial season of insane missed tackles (the first season of the power back). Then Bort made it so you didn't need much to tackle again, but he at least rolled back fumble causing, but not nearly enough for being on wrap up. Now we're back to needing more tackling coupled with less chance of causing fumbles unless you play on combo or higher.

We could keep going on DE builds, DT builds, CB builds (not most of the horrifying changes come on defense...god damn the LB auto 3 step drop....those were rough seasons).

I still hate VA's, not in theory, but defn. in the way they were implemented. I understand why they were implemented, but under the current league format, it really screwed a lot of teams over to help out the Alpha's again.

i think bort needs to increase the chance of forced fumbles. my team has zero forced fumbles all year...not a single one and we have our players on wrap-up. for example, one of our players has second soft cap in tackling and strength with 10 in the VA for power tackler and 6+ in both Big Hit and Monster Tackle and has a ton of tackles for us, but no forced fumbles. on my other team (that I GM; 15-1 record) we had one forced fumble all year. whatever bort did, fumbles appear to be WAY down in an unrealistic way. just my two cents.

There's your answer on forced fumbles. It is pretty rare to get a FF when on Wrap-Up.

Yep

I thought there were way too many FF in past seasons, I kind of like it better this way.

Still way too many of the FF being caused on returns imo and they always go for TDs, but all in all I think it is better.
