People need to be realistic when choosing their player for top position.

IMHO, how does:

Boo Didley MLB (Sydney Sharks) 176 tackles, 50 missed tackles, 0 sacks, 0 hurries, 3 PD, 0 Int, 0 FFum, 0 Fum Rec, 14 games

Gets a vote but:

LOLB Mr. Taylor (Portland Rain)
101 tackles, 12 missed tackles, 0 sacks, 0 hurry, 15 PD, 4 Int, 8 FFum, 12 TFL, 2 Fum Rec, 16 games

Does not?

There are lot's of things to be taken into consideration besides stats. It's easy to get the most tackles on a bad defense.
Getting the most tackles on one of the best defenses gets WAY more props in my book. I know we only get to choose a punter,
(I made it that way so the teams with the WORST records can choose the better awards. That way there is no bias for MVP, coach of the year etc.)
But when we choose our punter we will make sure to look at film and be very critical. I think we all need to do a good job of that.

There was no slight intended by my list. To be honest, there is only so much time in the day and not everything will be looked at. There very well could be a player missed in the consideration. I have no idea who has a good defense in the Alpha conference as I don't even look at those teams. I couldn't even tell you who is the top team without looking. Besides, it will be hard enough to figure out which LB is actually a ROLB versus a LOLB, which, IMO, makes a big difference as ROLBs don't get the big stats.

I am not about to watch film to see which LB plays better than another when there are 32 teams, at least 4 LBs per team in the rotation, 16 games, and around 50 plays per game. Hell, I don't even watch every play of our own games.

I agree that stats don't tell the whole story, but that is a majority factor.

I apologize for excluding Mr Taylor from the list. Maybe the team who is choosing the LOLB will include him.

I will let it go at that.

What he's saying is pretty easy Tishi. If you make a thread in your forum you will have more than just yourself looking at LBs.

ALSO EVERYONE WHO HAS A LB, PICK FROM ANY LB POSITION. THE OF THE TEAMS PICK THE POSITION YOU ARE ASSIGNED. THANKS!

When you look at HBs this season, take into account what those HBs did against the best defenses. Take a look at what the HBs did against Firmament, Perth, the Inmates, Kingston, and Us. That will tell you who the best is. Not the guy who had 500 yards vs the worst run defense.

With that said, Don't forget his name:

TATER HAMPTON

Feel free to do your research now.

I know its a pain in the ass but have the organizers considered sending private messages to each respective owner responsible for nominations? I'm not sure all of them hit these boards up.

I'm not usually one to toot my own horn, but I'd like to nominate my own player for any of the LB Award spots.

Kurt Brinkley:

16 Games
122 Tackles
2 INTs
3 Forced Fumbles
26 Pass Deflections
19 Tackles For Loss
4 Hurries
1 Fumble Recovery
12 Missed Tackles

In the playoffs so far, he has:

3 games
25 tackles
5 tackles for loss
6 Pass Deflections
1 Forced Fumble

Man, I did what I was supposed to do. I don't have time to send a PM to any owners.
I'm busy with my offseason. We're comin' back next season to put a FOOT IN THE ASS of Oceania AA#1!

I second that nomination. There are some great RB's in AA#1 but I don't fear any of them the way I do Tater!

I'd like to make sure to nominate my CB David Easterling

62 Tackles, 16 Int, 2 Int returned for TD, 4 FF, 24 PD's. only 2 missed tackles.

This was his last season in Oceania it would be nice to get an award!

Fear the Tater! I sure wish you luck in the next level Kingston but I also hope you are still there when we get there. We had some great games.

What are you doing? You're team is supposed to choose the KR/PR. Why are you here touting CBs?
What's the use of having awards if no one is going to participate.
Did you even look at the stats?

http://goallineblitz.com/game/stats.pl?league_id=30&conference_id=0&stat=sp_teams&sort=kick_return_td&playoffs=0

It's obviously between Cromartie and Mr McGee.

it looks like all this award effort will be in vain. Oh, and rush hour is an idiot.

I'd have to think that for KR/PR, Oso Verde would be the best choice. While Cromartie did lead in KR TDs, Oso Verde had 10 total TDs in Kickoff & Punt Returns...out of a total 39 attempted returns. That is amazing...taking one kick to the house out of less than every 4 returns is unheard of. I can't imagine what he would have accomplished if he had 139 returns like Cromartie.

Mr McGee would probably also get the nod for Runner-Up. Cromartie and McMillan would follow that.
