Since the regular season is now over, and some teams did not really gameplan for the last week of the regular season, I will only rank the top 16 teams. With that said, I will also include predictions for the playoff games as commentary.

Team Name/Record/Prev Week
1) Saskatchewan Sasquatches 16-0 1
Upcoming game against 8'th seeded Beavers probably won't be close this time around either. The Sasquatches don't really have any holes. Haven't scored less than 26 points in a game all season.
Win 41-10 vs #15 Beavers

2) Sudbury Spartans 14-2 2
The Spartans have an easy rematch against the Red Deer, who they blew out just a few weeks ago. Expect more of the same this time around.
Win 45-3 vs #14 Red Deer

3) St. John's Salty Dogs 12-4 4
Due to a tough start, St. Johns doesn't get a home game. Although that doesn't necessarily hurt their playoff chances, it does hurt their pocketbook, but they seem to have plenty of money stashed away. Don't expect their game against Nebraska to play out the same as it did in week 4, as both teams have changed a lot. Despite being the lower seed, I'd say St. Johns is the favorite in this game.
Win 35-28 at #9 Nebraska

4) Queen City Black Cats 14-2 5
A team that once looked Sasquatches'ish (no holes) showed a few during the regular season with two losses. However, they still have the #1 seed and with the largest stadium in the East, they have the most to gain financially by advancing far in the playoffs. They killed Montreal in the regular season, and experts have no reason to think the same won't happen tonight in the rematch.
Win 49-0 vs #16 Montreal

5) Halifax Hashishim 13-3 3
Although they have a home playoff game, I don't think this is the matchup they were hoping for. Cheyenne beat them in the regular season 30-17, and the Hashishim looks a bit shaky after last weeks loss to the Warriors. This game is a toss up.
Win vs # 10 Cheyenne 28-24

6) Hillsburgh Hillbillies 13-3 6
They've proved they are a top tier team with a win over Cheyenne last week. Now they get the Thunder, a very tough team that will give them a run for their money. Expect them to pull out a tough game this week and advance in the playoffs.
Win vs #12 Thunder 24-21

7) Vancouver Vindicators 13-3 7
They do go into the playoffs with the #2 seed in the West, but I'd be very interested to see them in a rematch vs #3 Hillsburgh. A lot has changed since their week one matchup. Their game will more depend on which Warriors show up tonight...their opponent can be either incredibly good or terribly bad.
Win vs #13 Winnipeg 35-21

8) Vinland Vikings 12-4 9
Drew the toughest matchup in the West against Manitoba. They won in the regular season 45-38 and I expect this one to be another close game.
Win vs #11 Manitoba 38-35

9) Nebraska Husker Maniacs 12-4 10
They did get homefield advantage, but I don't think that will be enough to push them over the top this week.
Loss vs #3 St. Johns 28-35

10) Cheyenne Mountain Air Force 12-4 8
They've got a good shot at advancing against the Hashishim, but my gut still tells me Halifax will pull it out.
Loss vs #5 Halifax 24-28

11) Manitoba Icemen 11-5 11
The #5 team was just a small notch below the top four in the West, and that means they go home early.
Loss vs #8 Vinland 35-38

12) Calgary Thunder 10-6 12
I like the way this team plays, but they just don't quite have enough to get them over the top.
Loss vs #6 Hillsburgh 21-24

13) Winnipeg Warriors 9-7 13
I think the bad Warriors are going to show up tonight.
Loss vs #7 Vancouver 21-35

14) Red Deer Blue Elk 10-6 14
They've had a tough season, but at least they'll get an extra $100k for making the playoffs...although that's little consolation for going home early.
Loss vs #2 Sudbury 3-45

15) Saskatchewan Beavers 9-7 15
The losing streak starts again.
Loss vs #1 Sasquatches 10-41

16) Montreal Canadiens 9-7 16
This team only made it to the playoffs because the rest of the East teams weren't good. They'll be one and done.
Loss vs #4 QC 0-49

Good write up Dan.

I am really of 2 minds about the Vindicators vs Warriors game.

IF we win...we will get to play one or the other.

I really want a rematch against Vancouver....I think we can take them and I believe it would be an awesome game.

On the other hand if Warriors pull out a great game...then we get another home game and the couple of mil that goes along with it......very tough to say which I would prefer!!

Wouldn't mind at all if you won, Illig. You're a good sport and a classy guy, and I'm sure you'd be fired up for a rematch. Could we say, best out of three?

Most of those games were tough to call, so I mainly went with my power rankings. Last week there was only one upset in the rankings, just going by numbers, which means that I'm doing something *mostly* right.

Depends on how you look at it...#5 St. Johns over #4 Nebraska would be an upset by the seed ranking, but not by my power rankings.

If you're looking for an upset, pay attention to:

#7 Winnipeg at #2 Vancouver: Winnipeg can be great sometimes, horrible others. It's a matter of which team shows up tonight.

#5 Manitoba at #4 Vinland: This regular season game was close, but I think close is all it will be. Vinland definitely has the upper hand, even if it's close.

#6 Cheyenne at #3 Halifax: Cheyenne won this in the regular season...it's really a coin flip for me here.

and of course..
#5 St. Johns at #4 Nebraska: I'd think St. Johns is the favorite based upon how these teams have been playing lately. The east is kind of like rock, paper, scissors. It's possible Nebraska could be the rock to St. John's scissors.

I gm from the sidelines ......no input on tactics Big poppa. That said Fool owns the Hillbillies starting QB..so I guess you could say we are inbred abit.

Yea don't know what happened in the game against the Horde...they got a shitload of sacks!!

Well, when I did these predictions I failed to give on team credit: Red Deer Blue Elk has very recently added a lot of talent to their roster and now look much improved. Although I still don't think it's enough to push them over the top, mainly because of the big chemistry hit they took, I do think it will be a closer game than it was.

New prediction:
Red Deer Blue Elk: 13
Sudbury Spartans: 31

Uhh....my humble apologies for all my incorrect predictions. This was my first, and last, time trying to predict who wins.

yeah Dan keep writing I look forward to your stuff too. We are just excited we won. It's an huge accomplishment to beat a team that no one else has this entire season.

Hell if we had a win for every time Hedgehog thought we were going to win we would have been the #1 seed going into the playoffs.

Please don't stop. They are fun to read. All due credit to the Beavers. They were big underdogs against the Sasquatches; I would have predicted that the Beavers would have lost too. But the Beavers played exceptionally well and the Sasquatches didn't play their best.

And besides didn't you say that a lot of these games were toss ups? It all depended on who came out and played well and who didn't. I fully believe that any team in the playoffs is capable of beating any other team in the playoffs.
