Hope everybody had a good holiday & college football kickoff weekend. On the flip side & a serious note, my thoughts & prayers go out to those living on the Gulf Coast.
1. WYW - took their first L of the season in friendly to earn '2nd best in WEA' rights. More than likely that's bad for everybody else because now they're motivated.
2. Boston - set as the #2 seed. Facing a hard-to-figure-out Schiffertown team this week, both in terms of their record & that damned apostrophe.
3. Brussels - putting them back at 3 since they hold the tiebreaker over the other Raiders, plus they have the easier intraconference matchup tonight.
4. Newcastle - dispensed a resurgent Rome w/ ease, then held off a late surge by the Car bombs to assure themselves of a first round home game.
5. Danzig - fought hard against Brussels & came up short. Should roll this week but will have to hit the road round one since Newcastle holds the tiebreaker.
6. Rome - as the 6th seed, they'll have a rematch against Brussels. Hard to beat the same team twice.
7. Irish - brutal end of season schedule wasn't kind; they dropped 6 in a row. It doesn't get any easier this week either, and then they will face a team that beat them by 31 in round one.
8. AFD - I'm damn proud of this team & our turnaround, from both last year & earlier this season. Unfortunately we'll have to face WYW round 1. That sucks.
9. Donegal - first team on the outside looking in but they can only blame themselves. If they can bring everybody back, will be a team to watch next season.
10. Plainview - put a spot above Dusseldorf since they beat them early in the season. Wins the award for most unlucky team in Alpha due to Edinburgh draw.
11. Dusseldorf - can hang their hat on that upset of the Irish back in W10. I'm interested to see what happens w/ this team, as most of their guys' contracts end day 1 next season.
12. Stockholm - similarly to Dusseldorf, will be interesting to see what happens w/ this team. All but one player's contracts end day 40 this season.
13. Portugal - ditto to the last two...will they continue to be a doormat or try to rebuild?
14. Mokum - should get another W this week, and really should be better than their record. Defense HAS to be better for them to be competitive.
15. Cologne - league's worst D may get relegated to WE BBB, assuming that league's created. They'll probably suck there too though.
16. Dublin - have a BUNCH of players on D, problem is they're all awful.
