Looking through the week 15 results, I noticed a couple of things that make week 16 extremely interesting in a number of places.
1) Cork City or Marseille in the 8th spot?
With Lyon's loss to Bow Street, they are eliminated from play-off contention. At the same time Bow street made certain of a Play off spot (yay...but more on that in a moment), and have tiebreaker on both the Argonauts and Cats. The question is now whether the final spot goes to the rising Wildcats or the unpredictable Argos? The Argos go up against Buffalo in the last round of matches, and are going to be heavy underdogs. Cork drew Vatican...who have their own outside chance of the playoffs with a win (together with losses for Nola and "oh my God, they..." Kilkenny). Cork have the tiebreaking head-to-head win...
2) The conference title
Because of the tie breakers, I think its down to Belfast and IKK-FU. Both South Riding and SYS are undone by losses to one of the top two. Belfast have by far the easier game on paper...but that means little on gameday, and how much has losing their unbeaten record exposed them or demoralised them? We shall see.
3) The "Who plays who" match up.
A lot depends on where the top 4 wind up...but as a Bow Street man, and looking at the prior match ups, I have to say I'd rather face IKK-FU than the Stars. A lot has changed since we played South Yorkshire, maybe enough to give us more of a chance...we are certainly not chanceless there, but we were closer, more recently against IKK-Fu...who must know that and will adjust accordingly. I would REALLY like to avoid Belfast, but we played in week 1 (and got pounded)...how have 14 games (not to mention changes in the sim in that period) changed the sides?
I have to believe that Glasgow's people are thinking similarly. Who will get 6th? is finishing 6th really better than 7th? Glasgow look to have a far harder game on their hands than we do as well (no offence meant to Dublin, but Tranmere did just hammer you). Who knows. It's all going to be very interesting in the shake down.
4) Relegation.
Spaniard and PSL. Nothing to see here. That's all folks.
