I think eventually it would be cool if you had to have a Coach character to own a team and the Coach character could become a coach after retiring as a player. The better they were in certain ways as a player the better they will be initially as a coach. That way you would have to earn the ability to be an Owner. You could then have a Head Coach who's skills affect chemistry and overall performance, an Offensive Coordinator coach who's skills would affect the number of play types an offense could run and how well they run those plays, and a Defensive Coordinator that the same effect on the Defense that the OC has on the Offense. It could really add a new element to the game.

The better they were in certain ways as a player the better they will be initially as a coach. That way you would have to earn the ability to be an Owner. I also think it's a by-product of the lack of communication from Bort & Co. about what changes are being made, what changes are planned, etc...
When you leave people in the dark about stuff like that, and make significant changes to how the sims are conducted during the middle of the season, it tends to not make people happy.
I think Bort is nearing a critical tipping point, where if he doesn't hire someone to communicate with the player base, he's going to start losing a lot of people...
