Just wondering because sniper refused to consider using it because it was too complicated?

I'd say it's easy to sink yourself. The AI can be dumb at times, but, it's overall solid. I've heard mixed reactions to using it. You have WTF moments with the AI, but you can also have those with your own.
It's not something to blame your ex owner over.
Don't under estimate simple game planning, everyone listening to advanced game tactics, builds, morale, recruitment, and communication.

We've been using it since game one it's very important in key situations when you don't want the Sim to make a decision for you that could be the difference between a first down or punting or even the difference between winning and losing it's been huge for us.

Let's be honest, the Dragons game planning was never good to begin with. It's pretty clear what they would try to do against better teams in the league.

Yep we use it. It is very simple but in addition if you just make one typo it can cost you a game. It did for us but the good thing is you can see a mistake and correct it week by week.
Right now I feel pretty much in control of the Al settings but it took a few games.
And as mentioned it can make or break a game bigtime!! I have seen games on team I GM that are not going for it when 4th less than 1 just out of FG range or not even kicking a FG when they are at our own 32?? And this will cost you games especially if its a close game and you lose by a FG.
Or when you are up by 1 less than 2 minutes and you dont set the SIM to run. You pass 3X punt and the other team scores to beat you. LOL No games mentioned!!

Agreed , it's the 10% of situations where you can find an edge, but it won't sink a team yet. I think there is a bit of "burn the witch" mentality going on over there.
It may have been the owner or not, it may have been that he did not have generals to watch the ship when he was not around for a few days at a time. You need people to trust to run your ship, it's the people you surround yourself with, it's never one person. Obviously there was not a good management structure there, to talk, to plan, to work morale, because in about 20 minute the piranhas ate his corpse.
This was not about advanced AI that's a bit ridiculous, it was about team management.

Cripplers actually use magic and we can see everyones settings before the game because I have powers that nobody else has. Then once the game starts we have little elves that come in and make sure that we win every game we play...The elves also let us make trades and conspire with the rest of GLB in our never ending quest to take over AA4. AI's, we don't use them...

Didnt bother with it the first 4 games. Now , wouldn't play a game without it.
I find that the offensive flexibility isnt as great on the offensive side as the defensive side..But in retrospect thats a good thing as you would never be able to get a offensive off the field otherwise as the sim currently stands.
Once you get past learning the different formations its a breeze to use. Quite truthfully I googled all the formations so that I understood what they were.
