1. Edinburgh Black Knights (11-0) (Last: 1 Best: 1)
Looking ahead to their matchup with the Griffin’s. On paper, it should be a hell of a game, but last year the Griffs had a hard time figuring Edinburgh out.
2. Glasgow Tigers (10-1) (Last: 2 Best: 2)
Glasgow is cementing its status as the #2 seed in Zeta, and really took it to Trillville with a powerful ground game. If the top two seeds meet in the playoffs, it should be a classic.
3. Tilburg Power (8-3) (Last: 4 Best: 3)
Staring down a legendary glam-rock band is never easy, but they’ve got to be focused on their game with the Jovi, and try not to look ahead to next week’s showdown in Glasgow.
4. Schiffertown Griffin’s (8-3) (Last: 5 Best: 2)
The Griffin’s have inched their way up ever since their three-game skid earlier in the season. They’d have been up near the top sooner if there wasn’t so much parity in the league. I firmly believe they would’ve had a shot at the #2 seed if they hadn’t faltered out of the gate.
5. Icelandic Vikings (8-3) (Last: 6 Best: 2)
Iceland beat Tilburg, who beat Schiffertown, who beat Iceland. These three are as even as you can get, and it may come down to points scored as to who avoids that #5 seed and gets the first-round home field advantage (and the cash that comes with it). And even that is a close race.
6. Bonn Jovi (7-4) (Last: 8 Best: 3)
Won a game they really needed to win. After beating the former #3 team, they face the newly-minted #3 team. Will we see an encore performance?
7. Middlesbrough Mayhem (7-4) (Last: 7 Best: 5)
Outlasted Belfast for a clutch win, and now get an extra game to prepare for their game with the Jovi to start their season-ending stretch against four of the best A#1 has to offer.
8. Milan Cock Fighters (7-3-1) (Last: 3 Best: 3)
The Cock Fighters were really hoping to go into the Glasgow game riding a 4-game winning streak, but Bonn Jovi had other plans. Now they’ve got to rebound against the second-best team in Zeta.
9. Trillville Hoods (6-5) (Last: 9 Best: 3)
Suddenly the Hoods are on a 3-game losing streak, and clawing to stay in playoff position. A game with Oakton is just what the doctor ordered. They'll need that confidence builder to prepare for tough games against Milan and Tilburg. Frankfurt and Dusseldorf are not to be overlooked, either.
10. Jamaica Rumrunners (4-7) (Last: 11 Best: 10)
The Rumrunners continue to win the games they need to. While they’d certainly like to beat Edinburgh this week, the odds are not in their favor. The last four games of the season remain hopeful for them, though.
11. Frankfurt Universe (4-6-1) (Last: 10 Best: 6)
The Universe continues its rush toward ultimate demise. Even though they’re technically a half-game ahead of the Rumrunners, they’re below them in power ranking because Jamaica has a much easier schedule while Frankfurt has to face Schiffertown, Trillville, Edinburgh, and Rome. Oh yeah, and because the Rumrunners just drubbed them 44-14.
12. Belfast Shamrocks (3-8) (Last: 12 Best: 11)
Of their last four losses, three of them were because their opponent scored last. If they could’ve closed out games, this season might have been a much different story. As it is, they look to have run out of gas.
13. Oakton Huskies (3-8) (Last: 13 Best: 3)
Looking at the number of inactives on their roster, it seems that the players have quit on the team. There’s always next season, but the Huskies must add some depth to the roster.
14. South Beach Sharks (1-10) (Last: 14 Best: 13)
Seriously, level-wise this team should be more competitive than they are. They’ve struggled with tactics, and may need to revisit some of their player builds. This league isn’t going to get any easier for them next season.
15. Chaos Engine (0-11) (Last: 15 Best: 11)
Where exactly is Chaos, anyway?
16. Las Vegas Lunatics (0-11) (Last: 16 Best: 16)
And I know Las Vegas isn’t in Europe.
