Sooooo we're into week 9, over half way through the season and the league looks like this... http://goallineblitz.com/game/league.pl?league_id=59
The Minotaurs & Sentinals look to have the top 2 spots sewn up in Alpha, with the other 6 playoff spots still up for grabs with the Eagles, Tigers & Dream Bolts looking certain for a playoff bearth with everyone else down to the Massacre scrapping out for the remaining 3. The Storm, Frankfurt & Computers are out of it, with the PC's looking like they'll be the team to drop into A.
In Zeta things are a little more...interesting with the Hippos on top by 1 victory with the teams in 2nd, 3rd & 4th still to play, the Vikings, Demons & Firestorm are those 3 teams, they're all on 8-1 and they should make up the 4 home playoff teams. The Romantics are in 5th 2 games clear of Lightning, Whalers, Fire & Cheetahs who are all on 5-4, meaning one will miss out on the playoffs...i have no idea which one. The Cougars & Spartans will battle it out for last spot, which will come down to their meeting in week 14, which does mean one will remain for next season. The Panthers, Crotone & Bridges dont really have anything to play for this season, although i'm sure it's safe to say everyone here hopes the Panthers return to somewhere near their previous best in the very near future!

Right, onto week 9 results!

Alpha
No great suprise in game 1, the Portsmouth Computers crashed (see what i did there!) to defeat against the Avengers 53-0.
The Gloutons hammered Frankfurt 90-0 to record their biggest EVER victory.
The Sentinals put up 205yrds on the ground & 208yrds in the air in their defeat of Eindhoven to cement their place as #2 seed in Alpha, winning 13-6.
The Celts Massacred Brussels (see what i did again...i'm on Fire!!) 26-10.
The Dream Bolts of Paris were run closer than i would have expected by the Team from Springfield, but they still ran out 29-10 victors.
Team Liquid maintained their aerial assault on the league by beating the Berlin Storm 37-18, with another 269yrds for QB Drew Stanton.
Minotaurs continued their great start to the season with a 35-10 victory over the Mafia Dons and in the battle of the Jungle the Tigers came out on top, beating the Wild Boars 30-14.

Zeta
In Zeta Lyon gave a demon performance outscoring the Madrid Spartans 80-0.
The other Spartans, from Berlin (I thought the Spartans where Greek!!?) beat the Cougars 34-3.
In the Zeta game of the week, the Vikings managed to succeed where the Hippos failed by restricting the Romantics to only FG's, winning 17-9.
The NFLUK Manchester Fire started strongly against the Firestorm but couldn't maintain it losing 20-16.
The Lightning stuffed Crotone 76-19, a result that surprised very few!
The Cheetahs came flying out of the trap against London Bridges, scoring 42 points in the first 3 Quarters, eventually ending up 49-14 winners.
The Permian Panthers continued their streak losing 61-13 to the Husavik Whalers and the biggest surprised of the week was that the Hippos managed to beat the Conchords 85-31, to continue their philosophy of score as many as you like against us as we'll always score more!!

I would like to take the chance to point out:

Grass Root Divots > Lyon Hippos.

Nice to see some upsets, and some underperforming teams. Husavik? Husavik? What's going on with Husavik. Sort it out!

I feel bad for you bro. Moving up and get smacked around like a little bitch. That's why I don't mind you coming here and talking smack. Even if its not true, I'll let you have that one. You need it more than me.

On the real, if you need any tips on player building or game planning, don't hesitate to hit me up. I'm an underdog at heart; I have a soft spot for them.

haha...you might have moved up last season but from the looks of it, there is a good chance that you will be staying put...if we get to move up, then we'll be able to test who's better...but until then, it's a moot point.

Y'all know the Divots love you Zeta's.

And I recommend heartily making sure you have multiple multiple players of the same level. As a team - our starters can hold their own and probably push for a play-off spot - but our backups struggle in the division above especially against teams who have amazing depth. Some of the big Zeta's have 12 or so O-Linemen all level 27+. This means they can run on you all day long. Our issue has been going from what was a superb defensive unit and an explosive offence...to just having an explosive offence. We're now the Hamburg Firestorm of AAA

To be honest - we're spending a year rebuilding a bit because some of the changes have hit our builds in some areas. Next year, with a nicer schedule arrangement that doesn't involve playing the 7 best teams in the division in 8 weeks...and the top 3 in consecutive weeks...would be nice.

More than happy to. I'll accept the match-up later in the year, as I'm organising a few match-ups against some "friendly" teams and don't want to cram our schedule too much. You're not being ignored, we're just making sure we don't overbook.
