Breaking news reports are coming out of Iowa, which indicate that the Fortress have acquired the services of a new starting Quarterback. Carson Palmer Jr will be named the new starting QB for the Fortress, but the owner isn't writing off a QB competition just yet..
When reached for a comment, the owner had the following to say:
"This has nothing to do with the value of Kerry Collins, or his recent performances. This has to do with a feeling in the locker room that the center piece of the offense, our QB, has failed to be a leading voice in and out of the locker room. Communication between myself and Kerry have stalled out in numerous instances, and it's hard for our offense to be at 100% when this is the case, and I think it shows in situations like our last game, when we had 2 red zone INTs, one of which was picked off in the opposing end zone for a touchback. I take partial blame for a bad call, but communication NEEDS to exist between an owner and his QB to correct the situations leading to plays like that. The same agent represents our Kicker, Scott Norwood, on our team, and we're going to do everything possible to prevent any bad blood forming from this. Kerry has obligations outside of football, and because we're not a pro league team, it's understandable, and we're simply going to move forward. At this time, a QB contest is not out of the question, but I'd need to see substantially higher levels of communication coming from Kerry's end. That's all I have to say for now, this has already drug on far too long."
This is an odd time to make such a roster change to any team, being that it's mid-season. We'll continue to follow this developing story closely. In the mean time, Carson Palmer Jr. and the Iowa Fortress take on the Liberty City Swingers in approximately 17 hours from now, in what is certain to be a game full of dramatic moments.
