Here are the rankings for this week....
I booted one of the Mastermind teams out of the league. They have a cool logo, but we still only need one of them.

Lincoln's still on top, but some teams from the East are starting to close the gap.

Thanks,
StickMan

Hollywood #10?

I don't think it'll end up this way after 16 games. They are a lot better than this shows after 7 games.

With all the role overs in the West how can the top West Teams not be on the top of any calculated Power Rankings?

Yeah, the bad West teams inflate a lot of these rankings

Which speaks volumes for BTB as they are still #3 despite being in a way tougher conference.

We only have 2 quality wins and we were lucky to get those.

FG with :14 to go against Choctaw

Some serious luck against WC

The Windsor game doesn't really count because we screwed that up. Windsor should have pounded BTB.

I believe it.....

and, I still think we haven't proved ourselves to be better than Hollywood.

I DO like that we're closing in on those hippies over in S.F. Webzoners beware!

Actually, Beer Town is doing pretty well in the Quality wins category because of how I calculate it.

You get 1 point for every win your beaten opponents have. Sp beating a team with a 3-4 record gets you 3 points.

If you lose, then you get -1 point for every loss the team who beat you has. So losing to a 5-2 team will earn you -2 points. And losing to a 7-0 team doesn't lose you any points.

This is however cumulative. So if hollywood goes on a losing streak, then teams who have been beaten by them (and currently have 0 quality win points from their game with Hollywood) will start to accumulate negative points from that game.

Beer Town has played teams that have won 17 games, and since Beer town hasn't lost any, they haven't gotten any negative points.
Hollywood has beaten some pretty good teams, and therefore they have 29 quality win points.
Just for comparison, Lincoln has 21 quality points, partially because you're not going to get much for beating the gutted teams.

Hollywood is only 19th in the success points part of the formula, mostly because they've played some tough teams in close games. Lincoln is 3rd in the success points category, and even though there have been some massive blowouts, I have this factor capped to prevent the blowout of terrible teams from skewing the rankings too much. My past formulas would have been totally screwed by all the gutted teams this year, so I'm happy that I developed this new one.

I'm still having some issues with Excel 2007 though. it does some things differently than what 2003 did, and I don't understand why. The new way certainly isn't an improvement.

Thanks,
StickMan

Out of curiosity....who's first in each of the categories (success points and quality wins)?

I don't have the spreadsheet in front of me, but from memory, I think....

Hollywood is currently first in the Quality win category.

And either iowacity or Yazoo City is in front of the pack for the success points.

Thanks,

I'm not bagging on your list Stick, you know that. I am just saying that Hollywood is a lot better than that number suggests. Obviously time will show that.

Thank you for putting in the time for these rankings stickman. We don't really care where we are ranked.
