Week 1: 7-1
Week 2: 8-0
Week 3: 7-1
Week 4: 5-3 (UGH!)
Week 5: 6-2
Week 6: 8-0
Season: 41-7
Well, I have time for a full edition this week! Woo hoo, and aren't you all lucky?!?!
Game of the Week
Belfast Commandos at IKK Fu Rabid Mutineers
How could this not be the GotW? #1 vs #2. In a showdown to eliminate one more undefeated team and give the other a head start on home field advantage.
Both teams have had pretty comparable schedules thus far which really makes it more difficult to predict than many matchups like this in other leagues. One thing is for sure: Both teams are at a superb level of talent and execution, and this game should definitely be one of the more-exciting ones we'll see this season. But when I really look into it, I have to give the IKK defense the biggest props here. The Commandos haven't seen anything like them, yet, and I have questions about whether their execution will be able to peak against a level of talent and depth like IKK has at their service.
The Belfast Defense is no slouch, but I just feel inclined to say that i think the IKK offense is more apt to rise above and keep a grasp on the #1 Spot.
Selection: IKK
----------------------------------------
South Yorkshire Starsat Reykjavík Lazytowners
What team gives up nearly 200/gm on the ground? Lazytowners. What happens when you go up by a ton? You rush the ball. Who is the best rushing team in the league? The Stars. Will this one get ugly? Probably. SoYo in an easy win.
Southriding Sting Rays at Bow Street Runners
Wow, Bow Street... what a tough way to open your season. Is everyone seeing that schedule so far? Want to see a freak example of a team made out to look 10x worse than they are? Bow Street. Sting Rays have a great team, and they gave our guys a hell of a run for our money, but I am going to have to play the "overdue" card on this one.
Glasgow Lions at Belgian Beers
This game looks to be a lot more evenly-matched than I think the score will indicate. I am not predicting this to be a total blowout, but I think it should be pretty decisive. No 1-4 point win here. The Beers are a good squad, but I think the completeness of the Glasgow assault on both sides of the ball will be somewhat overwhelming for their lineup.
Belgrade Bulldogs at Marseille Argonauts
Argonauts' only 2 losses have come form the #1 and #2 teams. Care to pick against that? I don't. They are a well-oiled machine that I think will have little trouble putting this one away from a Bulldogs team yet to find a consistent groove.
Snuggles Vikings at Spaniard Warriors
How do you pick in favor of a team sitting 0-8 for the season? You can't if they are playing a team who has found the W column. So i won't. The Vikings have a very solid team, with a huge advantage of tactical unity. They should beat the Warriors just as everyone else has thus far.
Lyon Breakers at Sweden Army
Battle of the losing Streaks. The midcard spotlight. Sweden has the raw strength advantage here, but it's tough to argue in their favor in the edge of gameplanning. Lyon hasn't been a huge threat to grab a home game this season, but they are never a team to take lightly. If they put a good amount of effort into preparing for this very winnable match.... I think they reap the fruits of their efforts.
Port St Lucie Knuckle Dusters at Corck City Wildcats
