#1 Carolina Hammer vs. #3 Orlando Dogg Pound
In the game of the week we have a clash at the top of our rankings as the Hammer take on Orlando. Is Orlando a top dog in the East or are they just outside of the mountain peak? Is Carolina really as good as they have seemed in the first few weeks? Both of these questions will get answered as these 2 titans of the East face off.
They’ve had 3 common opponents so far (Columbus, Colorado, and the Rock Stars) and Carolina has done better in each game, but common opponents don’t tell the whole story. The Dogg Pound is riding high after a thrilling victory over the Care Bears and will challenge the Hammer early, but fade in the second half. Carolina by 10.
Carolina 27 – Orlando 17
#2 DC Warriors vs. #5 Care Bears
We’ve got some good games in the East this week and the DC – Care Bears game is one of them. The Care Bears are smarting after a disappointing loss to the #3 Orlando Dogg Pound and would love to continue their regular season dominance over DC. DC is looking tough this year and is feeling confident after a successful tune-up scrimmage against the Sphere. I can’t pick against my team, so DC by 1.
DC 1 – Care Bears 0
#4 Rock Stars vs. #8 French Lick
Another solid game as we have 3 teams in the top 8 facing off against eachother this week. The Rock Stars are not content with the #4 Ranking or getting leap frogged by a team they beat. They took their frustration out on Compton last week with a 73 point win and look to do the same to French Lick. French Lick meanwhile continues to look like a team that will squeak in with the #8 seed, but hasn’t been able to beat any of the top 7 teams yet. French Lick has a shot in this game and an early lead is necessary if they want to pull off the upset. However, I think they will fall short as they lose by 17.
Rock Stars 27 – French Lick 10
#6 Monkeys vs. #16 West Bend
The Monkeys get the stats polishing game this week, and there’s not much else to be said. Monkeys by 160
Monkeys 160 – West Bend 0
#7 Canton Hall of Famers vs. #13 Cleveland Grey Hounds
After surviving a scare against French Lick, Canton gets to host #13 Cleveland in what looks to be a blowout game. I’ll bet neither team is scouting much for this game, but instead are looking down the road to more competitive games. Canton cruises to a 46 point win.
Canton 49 – Cleveland 3
#9 Oregon Ducks vs. #12 Columbus Spartans
Quietly, ever so quietly there’s a whisper going around the Oregon forums: Win streak? Indeed, the season’s most surprising team will be going up against Columbus to win their second game in a row and after a 20 point thrashing of Colorado, they are feeling pretty confident. They should feel confident and will win this week’s game by 32.
Oregon 42 – Columbus 10
#10 NY Steel-heads vs. #15 Cincinnati Slaughter
NY gets its final tune-up game before it faces off against the Care Bears in a redemption game next week. Cincinnati’s rough season will continue in this game as they fail to muster much of an offense and lose by 48.
NY 48 – Cincinnati 0
#11 Colorado Storm vs. #14 Compton ‘Nilla Wafers
Will Colorado pick up its 2nd win of the season or will Compton get off the snide this week? I’m torn on this game and if Compton had shown more against the Rock Stars I probably would have picked them this week. I suspect this will be loss #7 for Compton. Colorado by 10
Colorado 17 – Compton 7
