Hey guys...need some input on tie breakers...

Right now, the standings have Nola in first place...which since we won our head to head..means it is strictly based on points scored.

Is anyone sure that head to head is the 1st tie breaker when deciding playoff seedings? If thats the case...I need to score 270 Points to pass Nola...and most of those are going to have to come against the highway men. Most, if not all of you know how I feel about running up the score on an obviously weaker team...but if the seedings are going to dis regard our head to head record....then I need to allow my offense enough latitude to put up big numbers...

Personal stats are nice, but we wont cusion our stats just to embelish them...my players would like to lead the league, as does everyone else...but they put the team, and the teams reputation first. Nola went out of their way not to run up the score on the Highway men....before they even saw what our records would be like...my hats off to them for that...

But...a number one seed could be at stake..and for the effort of my team, the time, and the money they have put in...I have to try and outscore Da Nola, if infact the points score is the tie breaker...

Appreciate your input...

run it up, its fake anyway, and it does affect seeding which affects home games which affects money.

You are cleared to run it up on the Knights any chance you get and i won't post anything about it.

if it was real life, you shouldn't do it. My pixels have short term memory anyway (in fact they might actually be short term memory!)

Remember, its not just head to head between you and them...its between VT, NOLA, and Rhode Island, because you are all 5-1. The only reason i can figure why NOLA is ranked first is that they have 2 games, and both VT and RI only have 1 game(either that or its not counting losses or ties, which would then default to points scored between VT and NOLA). I know for certain it doesnt just default to points scored, because we had to go through a tiebreaker with 5-6 teams last season in BBB15, and points scored was never even a factor.

I would bring this up in the bugs forum(even though i doubt its a bug), and maybe you can get a legitimate response from someone that makes sense.

After looking at the league again my bet is that its going by number of games within the sub-ranking, because 6 of us are in the same position at 4-2, and Reamstown is above us with a record of 2-2 while we are 2-1, and reamstown is the only team with a total of 4 results. Would definitely be interesting to find out why it is that way.

From what I remember I *think* that the tie breaks only come in once you've played the same teams, so after the season, so even if it says you're second it just hasn't bothered to work out your top yet. Of course I may be well wrong so I wouldn't risk listening to me (I try to avoid listening to me whenever possible)

Just cuz you got me wondering dolfan, keep an eye here and see if we can get a logical response.

You only need to worry about it for the playoffs but here is an answer for ties for the playoffs.

From Game Mechanics FAQ http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=81987

"5. How do playoffs work? How do relegations/promotions work?
-----a. You must be in the top 8 of your conference to make the playoffs. And it is single elimination. The top teams in each conference, through playoff, get promoted to the next league (there are 2 conferences in a league and 16 teams per conference)
-----b. The bottom 2 teams in each conference drop down to the lower league

5(add). How are ties broken in the standing?
-----a. If there are only 2 teams, it's just based upon the head-to-head matchup
-----b. If there are more than 2 teams, then it's based upon these factor in this order:
1. # of head-to-head wins against the other teams with the same record
2. # of points scored
3. # of points allowed."

Exactly what i was looking for Ice, thanks a lot. So..it would be unlikely you'll have to default to points scored by that time dolfan, but it IS possible.

We had this issue last season as we was tied with Smilie & Samuari. And we each beat another team and lost to 1. So, the seeding was based on points scored

If both of you win out, it should be based on head to Head

Great..thanks...the only reason I point this out with Nola in specific..is that is the only head to head matchup of the 1 loss team, that is currently seeded above us..and with the upcoming game against the Highwaymen...it was pertanent to the situation....

Thanks for clearing it up...

It's based on head to head first, then the points. When head to head can be overruled by points scored is when you have a 3-way tie for a spot and they've all beat one another in their matchup.
