Since the western board is so slow, and I feel a little motivated I am doing the thread a little early this week.

Power ranking

1 Dallas Horns 6-0-0 W6
Dallas returns to the top spot because the earned it. A dominating performance against a quality top team. They were victorious in the first game of substance in the west this year. So far Dallas is the only team to prove it on the field. Besides a great defense and strong game we are used to from them they showed a very efficient passing game as well. Good job guys, but no time to rest. Sphere is next.

2 H-Town Hitmen 6-0-0 W8
H-town is a very solid team. well rounded, well coached. They move up this week because I have been wanting to move them up for a couple of weeks and Texas Roughnecks have given me a reason. H-town is a riser in this league, have they done what it takes to take it over?

3 Texas Roughnecks 6-0-0 W6
I am concerned for lil Tex. They have got to figure their defense out, or they will have a tough haul against the other tough teams and may drop one game they shouldnt. I have a little faith that they will get the issue solved, but until they do, I have to drop them a little. lucky for them they have three games to get it fixed.

4 Caribbean Sphere 6-0-0 W9
There you go Cerneo, you moved up. I had intended to keep you at six no matter the outcome of the Spartans game, but I did not see the game playing out the way it did. As always Sphere is exhibiting the strongest running game in the conference and a stiffling Defense that takes advantage of your mistakes. The scariest part about Spheres team however is the passing game thats playing possum. I have a feeling when they unleash it it will take the first opponent by a bit of a surprise. A lot of questions will be answered this week. With the right outcome, look for a shake-up in the top 5.

5 Houston Orangebloods 6-0-0 W8
After a key addition, Houston came out with a little different look this week. Showed a little weakness on defense, if they cant plug the holes look for them to fall in the standings.

6 Oklahoma City Spartans 5-1-0 L1
Well, the great win streak is gone. OKC failed its first USA#1 test. While I favored the Horns in the big game, the outcome took me by surprise. OKC, as new comers have to work to overcome the early setback. Was the game just a anomaly, or are they this years Hitmen, close and respected but just not there? Time will tell.

7 Allen Zephyrs 4-2-0 W1
Allen has to be happy. they are doing exactly what they need to do. I am not certain of their boosting status, but if they are holding off they may be a dark horse come playoff time. Ablue collar team if I ever saw one.

*From now until the last four games or so, I will only display the teams I feel are fighting for position in the playoffs.

8 Oklahoma Thunder 3-3-0 W3
I am not sure what to think of OKT. On paper and from my observations they appear to be a bunch better than they have played. The good news is that starting this week they are in control of their own destiny.

9 Austin Longhorns 1-5-0 W1
Austin is poised to get their run going. I think they need to have a great game planned out this week and explore every option to win. Playing some of the big dawgs has to me appeared to get them out of their normal rythm with the game plan. Get back to what you do best and you will get a shot at the post season again.

The Matchups
Big freaking week already for the playoffs. I am very interested in how a few games playout. We have two game of the week this tim around. I cant decide on just one.

GOTW 1a
#1 Dallas Horns vs #5 Carribean Sphere
http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=774&team2=768
Great matchup against two of the strongest teams of the West. Both teams are similar in style, with the Horns having a an edge in passing game talent/use and the sphere having a slight edge in the secondary. This game will come down to game plan. I give the Horns a small edge due to builds, and better game planning prowess.
21-17 Horns in a defensive strugle running dominated game.
9-31 not bad

GOTW 1b
#9 Austin Longhorns vs #8 Oklahoma Thunder
http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=770&team2=1275
While these two teams arent at the top of the western world, this game has huge playoff implications for the winner. I predict the winner of this game will be the Western conference 8 seed. The loser will no longer contro their own destiny and that is a bad thing.
On paper the Thunder should be a top team in the league. I am again not quite sure what the deal is with that. I think the Longhorns can make a game of it as is, but I really think to tilt the scales in their favor, its boost or bust time. Lose this game and kiss the season good bye period.

I have two predictions for this game,
As the rosters sit right now, I have to pick Thunder. 24-21 right, but score pretty off. 42-26

#2 Houston Orangebloods vs gutted Austin Powers
http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=762&team2=766
Houston 155-0 blah. 174-0

#3 H-town Hitmen vs Rockford Wrecking Crew
http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=1310&team2=112
Nothing to see here. Hitmen win easy 56-12 73-3

#4 Texas Roughnecks vs San Francisco Stonecutters
http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=776&team2=777
Bort why? Lil Tex 111-0 144-0

#6 OKC Spartans vs #7 Allen Zyphers
http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=1276&team2=739
Another good game for a change. The league is getting a little more interesting. This game has me torn. If I knew allens boost status and whether they were doing so or not for this game would have a huge effect on this games prediction. As it stands, both teams really need this game. OKC suffered a bitter loss last week at the hands of the Horns, I am sure they are looking to start another streak. Allen needs this win to solidify themselves in the playoff picture. They have Thunder breathing down their neck. A win here would be huge. I think if allen isnt boosted, this is the week it must get done.
Pick is subject to change based on boost.
upset alert is possible 5/10 rating.
OKC wins 40-21 34-3

Another decently accurate week.

I'm pretty sure most of the Zephers have boosted already, I certainly don't remember that many 25-27's when I was checking out the league at the end of last year.

if so, my outlook for them has dimmed a bit. I wish the owner or gm will chime in and clarify. I know it can be strategy, but its not like we can do anything about it.

I feel a little out there doing this thing so early. An uncomfortable feeling.

We have scheduled 3 scrimmage games in addition to the regular games between now and the final stretch.

One of those is a Eastern Europe Pro League passing team. We're going to research this and do everything we can do to solve this latest riddle by Bort.

I have zero doubts you will figure it out, unless its build related, just need to see it on the field. You guys can beat anyone(well except us)and that is all that really matters.

Well if we don't, it certainly won't be for lack of effort.

Isnt it great to start having actual meaningful games again in the conference?

We've still got a ways to go before we hit the real meaningful games, but at least it gives us plenty of time to tighten things up. At least I hope.

Same for us. . . . . and we've got our work cut out for us.

Luckily I've been off for a couple of days so I've been able to really get my hands dirty with these tactics. The more I work with them the more I like em and think we can use some things to our advantage. The big question mark for me is exactly how the sim incorporates basic tactics WITH advanced tactics. If it works the way I assume we should be in good shape, if not we'll have to adjust. I'm always nervous making a change because ever game is critical, but fortunately we're in the soft part of our schedule so we can afford to play around a little bit, and we have our first upcoming "friendly" scrim against the Stores as an extra practice session.

I'd like to know the answer to that worse than anyone but one thing is for sure, we've certainly put in the work. We feel the gap is getting smaller and smaller each day.
