Sasquatch skins Beavers 47-6
Edmonton (CP)… If you tuned into a nature channel to watch a confrontation between a beaver and a massive missing link predator, odds are you’d see the beaver not come out on top. Yesterday’s game was marginally more brutal as the Saskatoon Sasquatch ran over the Edmonton Beavers 47-6.
The Beavers were unable to maintain any type of momentum against a suffocating Sasquatch defence, as Saskatoon repeatedly held up on crucial third down plays and picked off QB Peter Ivanovich twice.
“It’s a bend-don’t-break philosophy. That’s what Coach Ching has drilled into us,”, said safety S. Levene, “When our backs get up against a wall, we’re gonna stop you. Beaver, Bull, Bear….whatever. We’ll stop the ball, rip out your heart and break your will.”
The Sasquatch offence put forth a dominant showing, racking up yards both in the air and on the ground. Backup quarterback Alge Burro received significant playing time and responded with his second TD toss of the year while starter Joe Tagger was a model of efficiency, with a completion percentage of 80%.
“When we’re clicking, this offense can roll. The key is that we’re unselfish. No one gives a damn about the stat count. We’re out there for the W…plain and simple,” said tight end Bailey Wetherell, who reeled in a TD pass from Burro in the third quarter, his first career touchdown.
The ‘Quatch offense will need to shine in their next contest against the Northside Hangmen. Despite a winless record, the Hangmen boast a formidable offensive attack and the game is widely expected to be a shootout.
