Well, this last week was interesting, Grim destroys BCB and puts that baby to rest, and London pulls out the upset against Amsterdam to show they are for real. We are coming into an important part of the season, the big boys are all starting to play each other beginning with this weeks Game of the Week. Here’s how I’m doing so far, this last week was a rough week…
Week 1: 7-1
Week 2: 6-2
Week 3: 6-2
Week 4: 6-2
Week 5: 5-3
Total: 30-10
So here are is the latest installment of the predictions…
Game Of The Week:
Amsterdam Arctic Blast (4-1) @ Dublin Drunken Monkeys (4-1)
This is the first game of the season where the elite of the league start going head to head, and this one is going to be a big one. Amsterdam is coming off a tough loss last week, with London pulling the upset and knocking them out of the undefeated column. Dublin is on a little hot streak, winning their last 3, and coming off a 24 point win over the Wraiths last week. These are two good defenses going at it this week as Dublin is ranked 5th and Amsterdam 7th. It’s all going to come down to offense, and Dublin brings in the leagues 4th leading rusher in Brad Theisen. Amsterdam has a good back of their own in Rut Men who is 7th in the league in rushing. I think this one is going to come down to who’s passing game is more efficient and who’s defense steps up, because we know both of these teams will run the football.
In a game that was too close to call, Amsterdam sneaks away with a victory, 24-23.
Warsaw Knuckleheads (5-0) @ Ithaca Space Munkees (1-4)
Warsaw is continuing to roll, pounding teams on the ground with their tandem of RB’s, Kal-El Jones and Eduardo Caroccio. Ithaca has had a tough go, losing 4 straight and this week is no easier, as they try to slow down this seasons revamped rushing attack for Warsaw.
Warsaw continues to rumble, and goes home with a 42-17 win.
Belfast Mafia (5-0) @ Vatra Dornei Wraiths (2-3)
V.D. is two games into a gauntlet of games, starting it out 0-2. This week, they welcome in Belfast who has been really working teams as of late, and are looking to continue to do so. Led by a very balanced offense, Belfast looks to continue on to a 6th win, while Jackson hail and the Wraiths look to hand them their first loss.
The Mafia is just too much for V.D. and they go on to a 45-21 win.
Transylvania Bloodsuckers (4-1) @ Basin City Blues (2-3)
Basin City is finishing up the tough stretch of their schedule with quite possibly the best team. Transylvania continues to dominate in the air. BCB is hoping QB Curt Phillips can try to keep up with Bloodsucker QB Jason Coker as this looks to be a high scoring affair. It’s all going to come down to who can do a better job staying balanced and keeping the other passing game in check.
In a shootout, I’m going to go with Transylvania, 45-38.
Kilkenny Cannibals (2-3) @ Clydesdale Colts (0-5)
Kilkenny looked very good last week in their win against St. Louis, as their defense really stepped up against Jerry Applewhite, holding him to only 48 yards on 20 carries. Clydesdale’s offense woke up a little last week, putting up 21, but they still haven’t really challenged anyone yet this season.
Kilkenny gets back to .500 and wins this one 41-10.
London Brawling Tommies (2-3) @ St. Louis Storm (2-3)
These tow teams are kind of on the opposite end of the spectrum this week. London is coming off a huge upset win over Amsterdam, where they controlled pretty much the entire way. While St. Louis is coming off of a very tough loss to Kilkenny. London is bringing in a top 10 rushing attack to St. Louis against a top 10 defense. The key to this game is going to come down hoe St. Louis’s offense does, as they have been the difference in their wins and losses this season.
I think St. Louis offense shows up in a big way and leads them to a 27-20 win.
Oklahoma Outlaws (2-3) @ Crimson and Cream Sooner Machine (0-5)
Toy Cannon brings the Outlaws to face the Machine. Again CCSM had trouble slowing down a potent offense last week that burned them for 69 points. Oklahoma is coming off a 42-21 point win over Clydesdale that is going to help them get back on track, and they look to get on a hot streak.
The Outlaws show the Machine who’s boss, on the way to a 45-27 point win.
Grim Reapers (5-0) @ Wrexham Maelor Brionnfhionn (0-5)
Wrexham continues to go through a tough stretch, as the offense continues to struggle. The schedule gets no easier this week as they welcome a Grim team who really beat on a good BCB team last week. They look to continue to storm their way through teams, and continue to be the most vocal team in the league, which has drawn them some attention. Wrexham is hoping to put an end to that this week and end their 5 game skid, but the question is do they have the firepower?
In a “We want to tell you, we’re better than you” special, Grim wins 38-10.
Week 1: 7-1
Week 2: 6-2
Week 3: 6-2
Week 4: 6-2
Week 5: 5-3
Total: 30-10
