1. Carolina Hammer 5-0 Last week = 1
Carolina won as expected, but Colorado scored 16 points? That’s the most points that anyone has scored on Carolina all season. I suspect Carolina’s future opponents will be examining this game closely to see how Colorado scored 16 points on them. Maybe Carolina isn’t invincible and Colorado has exposed its Achilles heel? If they have, don’t expect #12 Columbus to take advantage of it next week as Carolina will roll again.
2. DC Warriors 5-0 Last week = 2
What happens when a team with an overall ranking of 45 plays a team with an overall ranking of 30? 182 reasons why Bort should disband sold teams and move them to the bottom of the league tier to start over. Up next is #15 Slaughter as DC gets one more week to prepare for the Care Bears.
3. Care Bears 5-0 Last week = 3
Care Bears rolled again as they shut out Cincinnati in route to a 63 point win. Outside of French Lick, they’ve had an easy early schedule but that ends this week as they face off against a #5 Dogg Pound team that is hungry to prove they are an elite team.
4. Rock Stars 4-1 Last week = 4
The Rock Stars dispatched the Oregon Ducks with a solid 28-13 victory in week 4. The Ducks did give them a scare as the game was 14-13 at the half, but the Rock Stars pulled away for the victory in the 2nd half outscoring Oregon 14-0. Up next, Cloudwalker gets another week off as they travel to #14 Compton for what should be an easier win. Word is Cloudwalker might shake things up this game and name himself as OC for this game.
5. Dogg Pound 4-1 Last week = 5
Orlando rolled in week 4 as they notched the 31 point win over Columbus. This was their final tune-up before they face the meat of their schedule as they now face off against #3 Care Bears, #1 Carolina, and #2 DC before hitting the Oregon Ducks. The Dogg Pound thinks they’re an elite team – the next 3 weeks is where they can prove it.
6. Eleven Wise Monkeys 4-1 Last week = 6
French Lick had hopes of an upset against the Monkeys in week 4, but those hopes were quickly dashed as the Monkeys put up a 20-3 lead in the first half before rolling to a 33-10 win and showing why we consider them the #6 team in the East. The Monkeys get a breather game next week as they head to #13 Cleveland.
7. Canton Hall of Famers 4-1 Last week = 7
Canton got a breather last week after a week 4 scare against Oregon as they scored the 21 point win over Compton. Up Next is a feisty #8 French Lick team looking to prove they belong. A win over French Lick and Canton shows they belong in the top 8, a loss and they may drop out of the top 8….
8. French Lick 2-3 Last week = 8
French Lick was full of hope after the last second win over NY, but the Monkey’s game turned out to be a bitter disappointment as they fell behind early and never really challenged the Monkey’s. They get a chance for redemption next week as they face off against #7 Canton. A loss here, and French Lick’s best hopes may be a #8 seed this year. A win and who knows…
9.Oregon Ducks 1-4 Last week = 9
Oregon played the #4 Rock Stars close in week 4, but were unable to generate anything in the 2nd half as the Rock Stars pulled away for the 14 point win. Oregon’s been playing a lot of close games, but has failed to generate a victory in 3 straight games. Up Next is the #11 Storm which Oregon should win - and needs to do justify its #9 ranking. A loss here and we’ll begin to lose faith in the Ducks.
10. NY Steel-heads 2-3 Last week = 10
NY did what they were supposed to do in week 4 with a dominating 68-7 win over Cleveland. At some point, NY needs to get a signature win, but they get 2 more weeks to right the ship before they have to worry about the Care Bears and the signature win they need. Up Next is #16 West Bend.
11. Colorado Storm 1-4 Last week = 11
No one expected Colorado to win this game, but I’ll bet No-one expected Colorado to rack up the most points scored on Carolina all year. A dominating win over Columbus a week ago and a solid performance against Carolina has things looking better for this team. They won’t make the playoffs this year, but maybe they’re better than the #11 team and might play the role of a spoiler?? Up next is #9 Oregon as Colorado looks to prove they are better than the #11th ranking.
12. Columbus Spartans 0-5 Last week = 12
Columbus faced another disheartening loss in week 4 – this time by 31 points against the #5 Dogg Pound. Things don’t get any easier this week with #1 Carolina coming to town, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel as the schedule gets considerably easier after Carolina with a couple games they can pick off and place in the W column.
13. Cleveland Greyhounds 1-4 Last week = 13
Its been a tough early season for Cleveland after starting off a promising 1-1. Things aren’t going to get easier this week as they host the Monkey’s. At this point, they must be wishing they didn’t have to play West Bend before they were gutted as it will be awhile before they pick up the next victory. Up Next: #6 Monkeys
14. Compton ‘Nilla Wafers 0-5 Last week = 15
Something tells me that this team really isn’t the #14 team and will end up proving something this season, but last weeks game against Canton wasn’t it as they lost by 21. This week’s game isn’t it either as they face off against the #4 Rock Stars.
15. Cincinnati Slaughter 0-5 Last week = 16
Cincinnati’s rough season continues as the Care Bears deal out a crushing 63-0 defeat. Things don’t look to get any easier over the next few weeks, but they may already be looking ahead to the Colorado game in 6 weeks.
16. West Bend Warlocks 2-3 Last week = 14
Looks like the Gut Job is almost over as the only good human players left are the owner’s players. Props for leaving 11 million in the bank. In the meantime, West Bend drops to #16 overall. With 2 wins under their belt though and a victory over Cleveland, will they have enough victories to stay in A1? For the new owner’s sake, I hope not. Up next, #10 NY gets the stat-padding game.
Carolina won as expected, but Colorado scored 16 points? That’s the most points that anyone has scored on Carolina all season.
