1. Niagara Nightmare (4-0)
Previous: 1 High: 1 Low: 2
Genosha fixed their AI logic but still posed little more than a speedbump for the Nightmare. New Nightmare RB Hammerhead Cruiser broke 20 tackles…he must have been packing a taser or something. They’ll have another good test against a solid Thrashers team next week.
2. Calgary Destroyers (4-0)
Previous: 2 High: 1 Low: 2
Beat out a good Thrashers team in a tight 20-16 contest. Easily the Destroyers best win of the year against a very legit defence. Showed the Thrashers they could play D as well, getting to the QB 3 times…twice by DE Danny Lang. They continue to be neck-in-neck with the Nightmare for the number 1 spot.
3. Kansas City Gorillas (3-1)
Previous: 3 High: 3 Low: 8
Handled a respectable Chilliwack team with ease. QB Tom Brady is looking like a Pro Bowler thus far with 8 TD strikes against just 1 INT.
4. Shilo Silly Nannies (3-1)
Previous: 5 High: 4 Low: 7
The win against Kelowna was big. The way they won it was bigger. They out and out dismantled the Bulls. They roll into a soft three game stretch that will solidify their record and help them push towards a playoff lock early.
5. Saskatchewan Thrashers (3-1)
Previous: 4 High: 3 Low: 5
Tough loss to Calgary drops them a spot but they showed fire against the elite Destroyers. One of, if not the best, defence in the league will test all opponents. Tough game against the seemingly unbeatable Niagara Nightmare is up next.
6. Saskatoon Sasquatch (3-1)
Previous: 6 High: 6 Low: 11
Rolled their third win in a row against the Alberta Irukandji. The ‘Quatch have shown solid offense and defence in all their games and will continue to be a test for all comers this season. Plus we can drink….alot.
7. Unsavory Gentlemen (3-1)
Previous: 9 High: 7 Low: 10
Third consecutive win gives the UG a visit to the top half of the rankings. Put up a shocking 65 points against Northside but the true colors of the UG will be shown against the Destroyers. It’s time to walk the talk for the UG.
8. Genosha X-Men (2-2)
Previous: 8 High: 5 Low: 8
Fixed their playbook in time to get beat up by Niagara. If they can keep their AI in order, they will move back up the rankings as their team is still solid. The next few games will be pivotal for the X-Men.
9. Kelowna Bulls (2-2)
Previous: 7 High: 3 Low: 9
The Bulls were absolutely humbled by the Silly Nannies in what most thought would be a tight game. After dropping two in a row, the Bulls need to get back on track. A win against provincial rival Chilliwack would help the mood in Kelowna.
10. Toronto Lockdowns (2-2)
Previous: 12 High: 9 Low: 12
They came out with the W against Prince George but it was a lot closer than the score indicates. The Lockdowns need to show they can swing with the league’s elite.
11. Chilliwack Care Bears (1-3)
Previous: 10 High: 6 Low: 11
Dropped by KC and mired in a three game losing slump. Chilliwack’s team is pretty well put together but they continue to have difficulty showing it on the field. If they can put together the right gameplan against Kelowna, it will be a huge step in saving their season.
12. Alberta Irukandji (1-3)
Previous: 11 High: 11 Low: 15
Showed flashes against the Sasquatch but couldn’t complete drives. Costly interceptions deep into their drives hurt their momentum. I think this team is only going to get more dangerous.
13. Manitoba Lions (1-3)
Previous: 13 High: 11 Low: 13
Lions finally get the elusive W versus the Beavers. If their offense can stay on track, they should be able to hang in a shootout with the Hangmen up next.
14. Prince George Warriors (0-4)
Previous: 15 High: 13 Low: 15
They battled against Toronto but faded in the second half. The Warriors lack the depth this year but I think they have a plan in place and will continue to improve if they can keep the pieces together.
15. Northside Hangmen (0-4)
Previous: 16 High: 14 Low: 16
QB Antoni Romomentum now leads the league in passing yards and the Hangmen’s offense continues to roll. Of course, it doesn’t help that their defence continues to roll over. Defence wins championships Hangmen, hence you’re 0-4.
16. Edmonton Beavers (0-4)
Previous: 14 High: 14 Low: 16
The Beavers return to the basement following a shut-out from the Lions. Another team that looks to have a solid core building but I think they will continue to take their lumps this year, especially with Saskatoon and Shilo in their next couple.
