(Couldn't resist, I'm not from that area, but I laughed my arse off the day that he got in trouble for that.)

It's amazing that so many solid NCAA coaches couldn't do jack in the NFL. Just shows how much harder NFL coaching is. NCAA coaching is 80% recruiting, 20% gameplanning. Motivating NFL players is a million times more difficult.

It's not that it's "harder" but it's different. There's still a ton of game day coaching that's required to be elite in the NCAA.

If Pete Carroll can win despite being just horrible with gameday adjustments and situational playcalling.... then anything is possible. No one will ever convince me that Pete Carroll is a decent coach.

Well, Mack Brown beat him and not many people, even a lot of die-hard Longhorn fans will ever accuse him of being one of the Nation's best game day coaches.

So maybe you have a point. Those two are perfect examples of just recruiting a ton of talent and hoping it eventually out plays a good game day coach.

Stoops and Urban Meyers on the other hand are examples of what you can do when you can coach AND recruit.
