After taking the weekend off and having some amazing results, I'm back at it with a new edition of predictions.
Gold Coast Corsairs 5-0 @ Somalia Wildcats 2-3
The two new teams in the conference come in with completely different early results. The Wildcats were welcomed to the league with 3 losses in their first 4 games. The Corsairs came in talking a lot and then backed it up early. They went in and tore apart a great LAX team. The Wildcats are not a walk for the Corsairs, but they should handle them easily. Next week will be a big face off with the Saints who may or may not still be undefeated.
Corsairs 41 Wildcats 14
GOTW 1*Los Angeles Extreme 4-1 @ San Dimas Saints 5-0
The Saints embarrassed the Wheelhouse this week while flashing a dominating running game with a two headed monster. They come in facing a disappointed Extreme team after giving up 40 points to the Corsairs. A questionable game plan may have done them in there. On paper, the Extreme have a solid edge, but the Saints have outperformed the paper for a season and a half now. Last season's defensive MVP will have to bring his A game today as he has all season thus far. I will save my deep analysis of these two teams because I don't want to give away some things I've seen as we still have to play both, but it should be a great match up. I expect the Saints to unleash Charles in Charge today and put the Extreme to bed to head into an undefeated clash with the Corsairs next week.
Saints 31 Extreme 27
Russian Tractor 4-1 @ African Killer Bees 2-3
Wow is all I can say. Last week, I would have had this as a GOTW, but what a difference a week makes. The Tractor CRUSH the Camels and the Bees stumble to the then winless Congo Death. Ouch! The Tractor seem to be in the same form they were at the end of last season and look to roll through the competition until the Corsairs match up in a few weeks. The Bees can't stop the bleeding here.
Tractor 31 Bees 13
Mozambique Thundercats 2-3 @ Morocco Camels 4-1
The Thundercats thought they made the moves to improve in the league this season, unfortunately the league just got meaner all around. The Camels were stunned last week by the Tractor and I believe they'll be a little pissed going into this game. The Camels have definitely pulled a back-loaded schedule this season and this game will need to be a statement game to prove they belong in the discussion with the league's other top teams. The Thundercats however look to pull a big upset this week and I wouldn't look past them. This could be a nail biter...but it probably won't be.
Camels 24 Thundercats 13
High Plains Drifters 0-5 @ Eaton Beavers 4-1
On paper, these teams are very close. The Drifters have played a brutal schedule so far and have not faired well. Just like last season, they seem to have difficulty pulling out wins. They will not be an easy win and we will not take them lightly as we did last season. It almost cost us then. Good luck Drifters...but not too much luck!
Chicago Wheelhouse 1-4 @ River Styx Jinx 3-2
Who would have thought the Jinx would be sitting alone at the #7 seed at this point in the season with the Thundercats, Bees, and Wildcats looking in? The Wheelhouse came in to this season hoping to prove me and others wrong...they haven't so far. This is one that could prove to be a big upset and as the Jinx have always been a bit of an enigma, I'm going there now.
Wheelhouse 24 Jinx 23
New Jersey Blazes 1-4 @ Mogadishu Malice 2-3
A great matchup from two teams hoping to keep playoff prayers alive. Neither is probably quite good enough to compete for a spot though this should be a good game here.
Blazes 24 Malice 20
Congo Death 1-4 @ Lake M'Zumba Cannibals 0-5
Wow, what a comeback and an upset by the Death last week over the Bees. They capitalized on 5 Bees turnovers and pulled out a win. Losing now would be a huge let down, but I don't expect that to happen. They need to get all the wins they can now as they have the Corsairs and Tractor back to back in 2 weeks.
