i am going to make power rankings from now . However, there will be no math done (too lazy
). right now, the rankings are basically a mix of tier info, records, strength of schedules, pts for/against, and a bit of personal thought. here are my first power rankings:
1. Taiwan Demons (5-0) (Tier 1) - They will probably be up here for awhile, despite an easy schedule thus far
2. Blood Gulch Chupathingies (5-0) (Tier 1) - A 5-0 start and a win over HRY has proved that they are an elite team now
3. Himalayan Raging Yetis (4-1) (Tier 1) - HRY was edged out on a late TD by Blood Gulch (
), but a 4-1 record versus a tough schedule is impressive enough to keep them up here
4. Myanmar Military Junta (4-1) (Tier 2) - A win over KWD, a close loss against HRY, and a 4-1 record against a tough schedule is good for this spot anyday
5. Idaho Hurricats (4-1) (Tier 2) - They are this season's KWD (heavy sleeper team); They gave Blood Gulch quite a run in their only loss, and 3 TD wins over Fort Worth and Laos are good for this spot
6. Kolkata Witch Doctors (2-3) (Tier 2) - They have been the major dissapointment thus far, with no wins over teams with a winning %. Until they start winning against quality teams, they will stay down here
7. Guam Carabao (4-1) (Tier 2) - Yet another sleeper team. They gave HRY a run in their only loss, and upseted KWD. If they can continue defeating quality teams, they could jump over KWD
8. Laos Dragons (2-3) (Tier 3) - There is a wide gap between Guam and Laos; Laos has no quality wins thus far, so they will stick around this area until they do. Laos, Blue City, and Fort Worth will be the teams fighting for the final playoff spot; So far, Laos has done the best, so they are currently in 8th
9. Fort Worth Thunder (2-3) (Tier 3) - They have been pretty dissapointing thus far, with big losses to Idaho, Laos, and HRY, and their wins have came against poor teams. Their 100 chemistry will help them in fighting for a playoff spot, especially against Laos (their chemistry is 63 at the moment). But until they can defeat a quality team, they will be stuck here for awhile
10. Blue City Bruisers (3-2) (Tier 3) - Their 3 wins are all over poor teams, so they do not count for much. In their two games versus quality teams (Taiwan, Guam), they were easily defeated. Until they prove they can beat quality teams, they will be stuck here for awhile.
11. Davao Diablos (2-3) (Tier 4) - Again, there is a big gap between the two teams here; Blue City is much better than Davao. Out of the teams in the two bottom tiers, Davao is the best one, but that won't do them much good until they can prove that they can compete for the playoffs
12. Semarang Scorpions (1-4) (Tier 4) - They've had a tough schedule thus far (3 games against quality teams), and they were edged by Davao by just a FG, so they deserve to be the 2nd best team out of the bottom two tiers. But again, that won't do much until they can compete for the playoffs
13. Blutos Truckers (1-4) (Tier 4) - A tough schedule thus far (3 losses against quality teams) have made things tough for Blutos. Their only win is against Beijing (won by a FG). Their players are actually not that bad (a few level 20+s), but their chemistry (55) and other factors will work against them for awhile. If they can make many quality additions in the next two offseasons, they could compete by season 6
14. Beijing Knights (0-5) (Tier 5) - Though they are winless (4 losses against quality teams), they have proved that their offense can be potent. In their 5 losses so far (they were edged by Blutos by a FG), they have scored => 17 pts in every game. But until they can improve their D (needs a LOT of help), they will be fighting to avoid demotion
15. Ia Drang Snipers (1-4) (Tier 5) - Their schedule has been tough (3 losses against quality teams), but their only win is against Shanghai, clearly the worse team in the league. Right now, they are slated to fight demotion
16. Shanghai Street Walkers (0-5) (Tier 5) - They are the worse team in the league, and there is no doubt that they will be demoted. They need to make MANY additions to their team (level 3 and 4 starters will never cut it), or else they won't be able to compete in SE Asia A
NOTE - The power rankings do not reflect what I think will be the final standings; instead, they reflect how well the team has done recently. I do expect these rankings and the final standings to look quite different because of this
BTW, here are what the different tiers mean:
Tier One = elite teams, best teams in conference
Tier Two = great teams and playoff bound, but not good enough to be in the elite teams
Tier Three = bubble teams; some of these teams will make the playoffs as the last seeds, others will just miss out
Tier Four = not basement dwellers or bubble teams; just in between. if they make smart decisions, they could be bubble teams next season
Tier Five = basement dwellers, rebuilding teams. two teams in this tier will be demoted, the other stays alive for another season
