1. Niagara Nightmare (3-0)
Previous: 1 High: 1 Low: 2
They hang onto the number one spot. Dominated the Lockdowns, with rushing leading Koloski now sharing time with another great back, Hammerhead Cruiser. If Genosha can fix their logic, they may be in for a tough game next week.

2. Calgary Destroyers (3-0)
Previous: 2 High: 1 Low: 2
An impressive 37-7 win over Genosha becomes a lot less impressive when you realized that Genosha went for it on fourth down the entire game, pretty much handing the Destroyers points. I counted 17 points that were more or less handed to Calgary. I don’t think this game was fixed, but it does diminish the quality of the W.

3. Kansas City Gorillas (2-1)
Previous: 6 High: 3 Low: 8
Wrecked shop on Prince George with a dominant air AND ground attack. The Gorillas will be a team that people sweat playing as they can score from all angles. The next game against the Care Bears is no cakewalk though and they’ll have to stay on their game if they want to stay among the big boys in A5.

4. Saskatchewan Thrashers (3-0)
Previous: 4 High: 3 Low: 4
They remain undefeated but have yet to prove against any upper echelon teams. They shook off their offensive problems against Northside, with two of their running backs averaging over 10 yards a carry. Their next matchup against Calgary will be game of the week type material and will show if the Thrashers are for real.

5. Shilo Silly Nannies (2-1)
Previous: 7 High: 5 Low: 7
Emerged triumphant in an exciting one against Chilliwack. The deciding score may have been their first with a fumble return for a TD. The Nannies continue their BC roadtrip against Kelowna in another very tough game. If they sweep that, they’re in a good position to go on a bit of a run.

6. Saskatoon Sasquatch (2-1)
Previous: 8 High: 6 Low: 11
Gritty red zone defence kept the Bulls out of the endzone in a 21-15 win for the ‘Quatch. Saskatoon will continue to make believers out of the critics with good game planning and players that execute. Plus, we bribe the critics with beer and peelers.

7. Kelowna Bulls (2-1)
Previous: 3 High: 3 Low: 7
Moved the ball against Saskatoon but was unable to punch it into the endzone. Turn two of those chip shot FGs into touchdowns and you’ve got a different story. The Levdonski brothers are one of the best one-two running backs duos around, and with WR Golden Gopher, the Bulls have an offense that can explode at any time.

8. Genosha X-Men (2-1)
Previous: 5 High: 5 Low: 8
The box score against Calgary made it look like a close game. Which it may have been if not for some catastrophically bad AI playbook action. The X-Men need to get their plays in order for people to consider them anything more than a scrimmage game against higher levels.

9. Unsavory Gentlemen (2-1)
Previous: 10 High: 9 Low: 10
A 2 win streak bumps the UG up a spot. RB Jason Dean blasted out over 200 yards rushing and the Gentlemen scored more or less at will against the Beavers. Their PENETRATING offense really found the HOLES in the Beavers. Hey, I had to pop some kind of crack in after treysru went off on it. Odds are they’ll go three in a row against the offensively potent, but defensively inept Hangmen.

10. Chilliwack Care Bears (1-2)
Previous: 9 High: 6 Low: 10
They lose a close one against a very tough Shilo team. Defensive End Penetrator ranks third in the league in sacks and will need the defence to rally around him against two strong offenses in KC and Kelowna in the next two games.

11. Alberta Irukandji (1-2)
Previous: 13 High: 11 Low: 15
Alberta serves notice that they are not a doormat with a good win over the Manitoba Lions. Defensive captain Hangman Gallows ranks third in the league in tackles. The Irukandji have some stars and when they play well, they can hang. Tough game against the Sasquatch up next. A win would up their cred considerably.

12. Toronto Lockdowns (1-2)
Previous: 12 High: 9 Low: 12
Massacred by the Nightmare. Their offense has slumped in back to back games against league powerhouses Calgary and Niagara but they have a chance to get back on track against Prince George next week.

13. Manitoba Lions (0-3)
Previous: 11 High: 11 Low: 13
The Lions seem to be going by script…they play people close, but always end up on the crap end of the stick. They roll up against the Edmonton Beavers next as the favourites to win. I’m still not counting these guys out of the picture quite yet as their performances are always respectable.

14. Edmonton Beavers (0-3)
Previous: 16 High: 14 Low: 16
Their offense managed to do a little damage against the Unsavory Gentlemen. But in order for the Beavers to get that elusive W, they need to shore up their defence.

15. Prince George Warriors (0-3)
Previous: 15 High: 13 Low: 15
Calgary, Niagara, KC…talk about a murderers row. They finally face the Lockdowns in a game they have a shot of winning. QB Demarcus Zippo can fling it though and ranks among the league leaders in passing yardage.

16. Northside Hangmen (0-3)
Previous: 14 High: 14 Low: 16
I honestly thought they may upset the Thrashers in a shootout. Turns out the shootout was a firing squad. WR Anthony Lynch looks to be one of the best WRs in the league but also seems to be the Hangmen’s only true weapon. I guess that’s what 279K a year buys ya.
