Except, I don't know what a Paladin is either... Maybe a Macho version of a Sidhe?

According to Wikipedia

A paladin or paladine (derivative terms from palatine, and Latin palatinus, plural palatini) was a high-level official in numerous countries of medieval and early modern Europe.

The term paladine was first used in Ancient Rome for a chamberlain of the Emperor, and also for the imperial palace guard called praetorian guard by Diocletian. In the early Middle Ages, the meaning changed and the term was used for one of the highest official of the Catholic Church in the pope's service and also for one of the major nobleman of the Holy Roman Empire, who was in then named Count Palatine.

The Official Best/Worst Name list of King Henrik Lundqvist:

Best Names:
1) The Vatican Paladins (pretty original city name with rhyming team name that has to do with the city)
2) London Rippers (original and sounds sick)
3) Munich Hofbrauhaus (creative, apparently Hofbrauhaus is a brewery/bar??)

Worst Names
1) Buffalo Buffalos (ehhhh)
2) Walthamstow Dogs (who names the team Dogs?)
3) Drunken Lunatics Beer (three names dont work)

Best name = Walthamstow Dogs. Best names should take some local knowledge to understand the joke.

Covered in the thread about how Rome or London will win it all.

Walthamstow Dogs, is due to the local greyhound track that is quite possibly about to close?

thats right, in fact i'm going there tonight to watch one of the last races, Going "to the dogs" is an east end tradition almost like jellied eels or cockles.. and the east end cockles would have been a far worse name <smiles>

Also I think Dogs probably has different generational connotations and to me still associates with 50s/60s gangsters that dariusralph is so fond of.

I do though like the Paladins name.

apparently we arent too popular . anyway, I think Brooksy told us he named our mascot Beer, not knowing it would appear in the team name. For what its worth, we get drunk before EVERY game we play.
