To avoid cluttering the Forum, I'm just going to post a new note here when the Power Rankings are updated. I'm also trying a new format:

Here is a link to the Power Rankings:

http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=pOUigrsS32wJHK8ebvc2ZLg&hl=en

Just by way of explanation, these results are purely statistical and consider various different factors (which are noted in the document itself). The formula has been tweaked a little since last season, with the largest change being that margin of victory is considered for each game individually, rather than as an average based on total points scored vs. allowed.

Also, since only two regular season weeks have gone by, there is very little data to base the rankings on, AND THE RANKINGS WILL CHANGE A LOT IN THE NEXT 3-4 WEEKS.

The referenced document has information on standings, ranking numbers, strength of schedule, upcoming strength of schedule, and breaks out the rankings by conference and league.

Sorry I didn't get this up after week 1, but the Week 1 rankings are also in the document. I'm behind at work, so I haven't had as much time to get everything into it. As a result, the upcoming schedule rank is not yet finished (which is why everyone looks like they have the same upcoming schedule difficulty). It should be finished and ready in the next day or two.

By way of summary, after Week 2 the West rankings are:
1 Port Moody Megalodon
2 Québec City Dirtbags
3 Vancouver Crush
4 Laval Lumberjacks
5 Gaffney Indians
6 Listowel Huskies
7 Ogopogo Lake Monsters
8 Memphis Maulers
9 Tradewest Battletoads
10 Westwood Bruins
11 B.K. Thunderbirds
12 Thunder Bay Titans
13 Saskatchewan Wolf Pack
14 Montreal Raptors
15 Bologna Towers
16 Alberta Alchemists

And in the East they are:
1 Quebec Quasars (thanks primarily to the dismantling of the slow build Terror)
2 Hamilton Lightning
3 Winnipeg Wolves
4 Blitzkrieg Bandits
5 Puvirnituq Musketeers
6 Lancaster Hustlas
7 Antioch Inferno
8 Notre Dame Fighting Irish
9 Yellowknife Rented Mules
10 Toronto Bobcats
11 Niagara Assassins
12 Lincoln Lucky
13 Nova Scotia Snakes
14 S.W.O. Swamp Donkeys
15 Canadian Military
16 Sacramento Terror

The West's top 4 are all powerhouses, but the East looks good from 1 to 8, and there's even a couple more that had tough schedules that are 0-2 right now.

Haha, Quebec loses by one point to the #3 team and they fall from #1 to #6? Might want to look at that one again...

If the ranking was subjective, it wouldn't be much of a change, but since it is entirely statistical (and as there are so few data points this early in the season), the results from one loss are pretty drastic, regardless of the opponent.

Blitzkrieg is going to be real tough, not a lot of holes in that team.

#1 Blitz v #2 Puvi in the East.
PMM v Crush is a huge game in the West.

Yea, both those matches should be very interesting, and are without doubt "game of the week" in their respective conferences.
