As stated many times, this is a base score of your team's potential. Individual player builds and game plans are the other pieces of the puzzle for who is likely to win a given game.

I just don't get how you get this info. But thanks for the write up. My team is 2 - 0 and we are ranked #11 and we beat the #3 and #6 team. So I guess that means we are doing something right.

It certainly does. By Jerry's statistics, I'm mostly concerned about those teams within 2 points of my own team's ranking. Those games will be intense. I'm not saying that it can't be done by teams with more than a 2 pt gap, but that is where serious game planning and player builds are going to come into effect.

I have now. There are two major flaws with his spreadsheet.

The first flaw is, if he's going to have points, yards, yards per play, etc.; then you can't combine the two conferences. The conferences are not equal in strength, so comparisons between the two conferences will remain pointless no matter how many games are played.

The second flaw is that his rankings are horribly out of whack at the beginning of the season because it favors good teams who've played horrible teams. As more games occur, it'll become more "accurate". However, it'll never reach a level of accuracy that I would find acceptable because it retains historic data which; because of level-ups, boosts and trades; becomes increasingly meaningless as the season progresses.

Suggestions I would have:
* Drop data from games once they are a week old or more.
* Weight the data so most recent performances have precedence over older performances.
* Use the Team Rating to weight the value of the data from a particular game. This way data from an easy team rated at 27 would not provide as much of a lift as a more difficult opponent rated at 42.

Yes, you did do something right. I believe you had a better AI than the Condors when you played them. As for Lincoln Breeze, you are less than a point away from them.

Don't look at the ranks as the objective evaluation of your team. Look at the differences in the score. As Sarcoth said, anyone within 2 points (give or take a little) is a threat to beat anyone else. Anyone within 3 points is a threat to upset. For instance, German Wilddogs shouldn't lose to any of the teams ranked 13 and lower. That's because of the points, not the rank.
