Glad my rankings are causing some discussion, I love some good competitive trash talk!
Let's just keep in mind that these are power rankings, not win/loss rankings. If you want those, just go look at the standings in your Conference.

ALPHA CONFERENCE
Sofia Spiders
Record: 1-0
Last game: 35-28 W over Pirates
Rank - 1
Previous Rank - 2
The Spiders played a tough opening game against the Pirates where both teams played impressively on offense. The spiders had the game dominated until allowing 21 points in the 4th. This is a concern, perhaps depth, perhaps game planning. That said, they were impressive, especially running the ball with their two HBs average 9.8 and 8 ypc. They might need to work a few kinks out, such as the somewhat confusing attempt to go for a 4th and 10 well within FG range late in the 4th Quarter. Having failed the attempt, the Pirates had a beautiful 70 yard pass to pull within 7. If onside kicks were in the game, the decision may have cost them the win. But that’s slightly nitpicking and the Spiders deserve the #1 spot.
Dallas Galaxy
Record: 1-0
Last game: 35-13 W over Wildcats
Rank - 2
Previous Rank - 4
The Galaxy disposed of what I thought was a decent Wildcats team, 35-13. They did it almost exclusively on the ground, rushing 55 out of their 67 plays! They ran in every direction and had success doing it all. Their Offensive line was a huge part of the success, putting up a combined 89 pancakes. This is a good starting Offensive line. Defensively, they were able to get some pressure on the QB, posting 3 sacks and 6 hurries.
Berlin Devil Dogs
Record: 0-1
Last game: 7-13 L to Swift Sharks
Rank - 3
Previous Rank – 1
Though they start the season with a loss, I still feel the Devil Dogs are a strong team. The Devil Dogs leaned heavily on the pass and not just when the game wound down, having passed on 15 of 21 plays in the first quarter alone. Perhaps that was a mistake. I thought their strong suite was their running game but it never got going, even though they averaged 4.9 ypc when they did rush. Though it would have been tough to drive the entire length of the field anyway, a late INT sealed the fate of the Devil Dogs. I have a hard time dropping them too far because I think this was just a misstep in game planning that will quickly be remedied.
Transylvania Impalers
Record: 1-0
Last game: 34-24 W over Samurais
Rank - 4
Previous Rank - 5
The Impalers won this game through the air, where they had success, luckily because the running game was stagnant. 3.3ypc won’t cut it if they hope to compete as one of the elite in the Conference. “Big Daddy” Malone handled most the QB duties, but neither disappointed, completing 28 of 40 and a TD despite 6 hurries and 2 sacks. They’ll need to get that running game working so teams can’t key on the pass. Though they only have 2 human CBs, they are pretty good ones, holding Michael McDonald of the Samurais to 48% completion and deflecting 6 passes.
The Saratov Swift Sharks
Record: 1 – 0
Last game: 13-7 W over Devil Dogs
Rank - 5
Previous Rank - 10
I didn’t give this team enough credit. I did recognize they had some high quality starters and depth on Offense, but I gave too much credence to what damage a lower level group of backups would have. This team performed well against a tough opponent. They leaned heavily on the rush, almost 2 to1 against pass, the entire game and ground out 4.3 ypc. I have to stick with my feelings to some extend, and I’m sure some will complain, but I didn’t move the Sharks up past the Devil Dogs for the win. This was a fantastic win by the Sharks, but I feel they still have to show a little more to break the top 3 or 4.
Black Sea Pirates
Record: 0-1
Last game: 28-35 L to Spiders
Rank - 6
Previous Rank - 6
I noted the quality of the Pirates depth and it almost pulled out an incredible comeback in the 4th quarter. The Pirates simply dug themselves too deep a hole to begin with, going down 35-7 after 3 Quarters. They did manage some good drives throughout the game, but just stalled short of scoring range and also registered 1 missed FG. They also spread the ball around well, passing to 8 different receivers. This kind of depth will help them win a lot of games. Losing a close game to the #1 team has its benefits, allowing the Pirates to not lose a spot on the rankings.
Fayette Mafia Crew
Record: 1-0
Last game: 21-13 W over Cheetahs
Rank - 7
Previous Rank - 9
Mafia Crew pulled out a tough win against a good opponent. There are still some concerns, however. Having managed only 3.4 ypc on the ground, the rushing game may need some work. Jonny Begood was insane at WR, catching 14 balls and 2 TDs. Defensively, though somewhat thin at CB, they managed to shut down the Cheetahs passing attack. This bodes well for one of the biggest concerns I had with the team.
Mukachevo Cheetahs
Record: 0-1
Last game: 13-21 L to Mafia Crew
Rank - 8
Previous Rank - 3
The Cheetas had a tough time getting much offense going. Their all star WR, Boom Shanka managed just 2 catches for 19 yards. Of their 2 quality QBs, booty got most the playtime, but managed just 37% completion and an INT. When ARMSTRONG comes in the game, he only plays 9 plays, but completes 5 of 6 for 46 yards. Is a QB controversy brewing?
Budapest Samurais
Record: 0-1
Last game: 24-34 L to Impalers
Rank - 9
Previous Rank - 7
The Samurais held up fairly well against the Impalers. They leaned heavy on the pass early in the game and it cost them with 3 drives ending up as 3 and outs in the first half. The final 6 drives by both teams ended in TDs so this game could have gone either way with a few defensive plays. But that didn’t happen, and it may be a concern for both teams having allowed long TD drives up and down the field late in the game.
The Wheatfield
Record: 1-0
Last game: 23-0 W over Coffee Mugs
Rank - 10
Previous Rank - 11
The Wheatfield pitched a shutout, but has some holes to fill. 51% completion by QBs with 1 INT could be a concern. I was concerned about their lack of CB depth and it may have cost them already. It will be more glaring of a weakness against tougher opponents. That said, they won a game they should have won. The Wheatfield rushed 17 times in the 4th quarter to seal the deal. Depth seemed to help the team. They spread the ball around in the air, throwing to 8 different receivers and also got some good rushing out of 3 different backs.
London Wildcats
Record: 0-1
Last game: 13-35 L to Galaxy
Rank - 11
Previous Rank - 8
Well I didn’t think the team chemistry would matter, and I doubt it did, but the Wildcats start the season with an L anyway. I was concerned how they’d get 4 HBs involved in the game, but looks like the carries mainly went to just Lawrence Philips and Parking Lot Pimp. I was impressed with what I saw with Philips initially and he didn’t disappoint with 4.8ypc and a TD. Passing, you have to be impressed with Johnny Pocket Rocket. He managed a very respectable 64% completion while being sacked 3 times, hurried 6 times and having 6 of his 9 incompletions being drops! In the end, the Galaxy were simply too strong and showed why they have moved to #2 on the board.
Woburn Tanners
Record: 1-0
Last game: 10-6 W over Longnecks
Rank - 12
Previous Rank - 12
This was a tough fought game for the Tanners. They managed only 253 yards total of offense and allowed 255. The running game seemed to be working pretty well early, running 18 times for 95 yards in the first half. But they seemed to get away from the run in the second half and it cost them, having not scored any points in the second half. QB Leon Powe threw 3 INTs, all in the 4th quarter. They were fortunate to not have any of them lead to a game changing score.
Kazan Black Dragons
Record: 1-0
Last game: 42-10 W over Chaos
Rank - 13
Previous Rank - 13
The Black Dragons destroyed the Chaos with the running game, posting 337 yards on the ground. Though they didn’t need to pass, they still completed 11 of 18. If this HB combo can play this well against tougher competition, the Black Dragons might be able to compete in a few more games then I anticipated. That said, this was against the worst team in the Conference. A team they were supposed to beat easily took the opening kickoff and drove all the way down the field for a TD. In general, the defense allowed too many sustained drives by a team full of CPUs.
Texas Longnecks
Record: 0-1
Last game: 6-10 L to Tanners
Rank - 14
Previous Rank - 15
The Longnecks played ok, managing to stay with the Tanners. They had chances late to close the gap, but couldn’t deliver when their secondary pulled in 3 turnovers in the 4th quarter. There are more problems with this offensive line than I thought, at least in pass defense. They allowed 7 sacks and 9 hurries, preventing the offense from ever really getting into a rhythm. Essentially opposite of what the Tanners did, the Longnecks turned to the run in the second half and finally started picking up some yardage, gaining 64 yards on the ground in the 2nd half compared to 27 in the first half. There are at least some things this team can build on.
Budapest Coffee Mugs
Record: 0-1
Last game: 0-23 L to Wheatfield
Rank - 15
Previous Rank - 14
The Coffee Mugs actually didn’t play too terribly for having been shut out. Multiple times, they sustained decent drives that ended just shy of FG range. They also out passed the Wheatfield, completing 61.5% to Wheatfield’s 51%. That said, this team needs some work. They managed only 32 yards on the ground averaging an abysmal 1.7 ypc. The Defense might help them stay in games. Secondary had 9 Pass Deflections and 1 INT.
Bratislava Chaos
Record: 0-1
Last game: 10-42 L to Black Dragons
Rank - 16
Previous Rank - 16
This team is ranked last for a reason. Managing just 43 yards on the ground, they were very one dimensional. That said, they did put up 221 yards through the air. Though 18 of the completions went to one receiver, QB Rad Man completed 74% of his passes, despite 9 hurries and 4 sacks. Perhaps they can build on that. That said, the loss was to a lesser team in the Conference, so it may get really ugly against the rest of the teams.
ZETA CONFERENCE
Wroclaw Wolverines
Record: 1-0
Last game: 31-3 W over Javelinas
Rank - 1
Previous Rank - 1
The Wolverines did exactly what they should do as the #1 team in the Conference. The QB combo of Rosy Palm and Punky McMahon posted respectable numbers, completing 53% and 57% respectively and a TD each. 6 drops by the WRs brought those numbers down. The TEs played heavily into the game plan, catching 6 balls for 68 yards. The running game punished the defense with 192 yards and 16 broken tackles. They may have some concerns with the inside rushing game as runs were far more successful going outside, averaging 7.3ypc outside to only 3.7ypc inside.
Kosovo Kryptonite
Record: 1-0
Last game: 51-0 W over Romans
Rank - 2
Previous Rank - 2
The Kryptonite made a case for the #1 spot this week by destroying the Romans. However, they were not anticipated to be a tough competitor anyway. The Kryptonites rushing game was simply back breaking, racking up 355 yards on 64 carries. HB Ballin It Up pounded out 7 TDs, all on short runs of 6 or fewer yards. Interestingly, though, it was the other back, Runnen Thruya that totaled up 19 broken tackles. They had no need to pass the ball, but completed almost all of them when they did, missing on only 2 of 9 throws. One of which was a drop. The team played well in every facet.
Chernobyl Nuclear Assault
Record: 1-0
Last game: 34-17 W over Sentinals
Rank - 3
Previous Rank - 4
The Nuclear Assault decided they could run the ball down the Sentinals throat and they did just that, rushing 40 out of 53 total plays. And they did it with a full arsenal of runners, splitting carries between 5 players. Impressive depth and ability from the backfield. They did, however, seem to tire out some in the 4th quarter, allowing 2 long scoring drives for TDs. A significant portion of which was gained on the ground by a team ranked 14th on Offense at the start of the season. They have a few CPU players that may need to be replaced if they want to be consistent and competitive with the elite of the Conference. The Nuclear Assault now have a firm hold on the 3rd rank as I feel there is a gap between this team and the next few teams.
Rome Colossus
Record: 1-0
Last game: 26-6 W over HUC
Rank - 4
Previous Rank - 6
The Colossus did indeed manage to get their rushing QB, Johnny Quest IV, some playtime running the ball and he was surprisingly effective, running 17 times for 75 yards. The Colossus running game was tough to stop in general, putting up 305 yards and 2 TDs. The offensive line carved out a path of destruction putting up 91 pancakes. This game had an interesting display of offensive drives. After the first 3 drives, EVERY drive in the game by both teams was at least 6 plays. Defensively, the team was all over the field, putting up 9 PDs, 2 INTs, 23 hurries and 2 sacks. Regardless of opponent, an impressive display that helps them jump up 2 spots.
Ukrainian Warheads
Record: 1-0
Last game: 63-7 W over Dragons
Rank - 5
Previous Rank - 7
The Warheads had the biggest margin of victory in the entire league, winning by 56 points. Everything worked for the Warheads offensively. They averaged 7.9 ypc and completed 72% of their passes. Both QBs threw TD passes and 4 different runners ran for TDs. If you want to nitpick, the defense did allow a TD and 227 yards of offense from the Dragons, picked up no sacks and no INTs. The defense might struggle mightily against tougher opposition. There are a lot of similar teams near the middle of this Conference and this win helps push the Warheads near the top of that group.
Terlingua Javelinas
Record: 0-1
Last game: 3-31 L to Wolverines
Rank - 6
Previous Rank - 5
A difficult loss can only be consoled by the fact they played the toughest team in the Conference. They had trouble sustaining any drives until the 4th quarter, when 3 long drives ended with no points deep into Wolverines territory. The running game struggled to get much going, putting pressure on the passing game to move the ball. QB Apelle Struedal struggled and was spelled by E Copeland who completed 71% of his passes. There was serious trouble getting the ball the WRs in the passing game. Only 5 of 25 catches were from WRs. They’ll need to figure out how to get their wideouts more open.
Kiev Cossacks
Record: 1-0
Last game: 44-9 W over Cowboys
Rank - 7
Previous Rank - 8
The Cossacks went to the run early and often, never letting up. They gained significant yardage in every quarter, 85 yards in the 1st, 77 in 2nd, 74 in the 3rd, and 90 in the 4th, scoring 6 TDs along the way. The passing game was used as a supplement, and effectively at that, completing 20 of 29 attempts, allowing the team to execute a lot of long drives ending in scores. They simply didn’t make mistakes in a game where they needed to win exactly as they did to be thought of as a competitor in the Conference.
Las Vegas Highrollers
Record: 1-0
Last game: 35-27 W over Crush
Rank - 8
Previous Rank - 9
The Highrollers played well on both sides of the ball against a tough opponent. Not spectacular but enough to get the job done. The rushing game was successful, gaining 5.6ypc and passing game put up 242 yards. They switched to heavy on the rushing attack in the 4th quarter and ran out most of the clock, sealing the game.
Columbus Crush
Record: 0-1
Last game: 27-35 L to Highrollers
Rank - 9
Previous Rank - 3
The Crush drop a disappointing game to the Highrollers, though they played pretty well. The two HBs averaged 8.4 and 6.2ypc and pushed in 2 TDs, but the passing game struggled somewhat. The Crush only completed 135 yards passing with 68 yards going to TEs. They need to get their WRs more involved. This game could have gone either way, with the Highrollers scoring late to take the lead. The lack of depth in the secondary was a concern and it seemed to hurt them. I have concerns about how this team will continue to play and that drops them below the team they just lost to.
Bucharest Vampires
Record: 1-0
Last game: 50-6 W over Mavericks
Rank - 10
Previous Ranking - 11
I noted concern for the rookie receiving corp of the Vampires during the preseason ranking, and they alleviated that concern by simply rushing the ball on 42 of 78 plays and throwing a considerable number of the passes to the TEs. The two TEs accounted for 6 of 20 catches, while WR San Fran had an amazing game for a rookie catching 11 balls for 100 yards. This again preaches my point that human players trump CPU players any day. The Vampires actually started the game down 7-0 in the 1st, but came back to score TDs on their next 4 possessions. Charles “Quick Snap” Xavier led the offensive line with 27 pancakes, paving the way for 365 yards rushing.
The D-League Home For Underprivileged Children
Record: 0-1
Last game: 6-26 Loss to Colossus
Rank - 11
Previous Rank - 10
It’s incredible the HUC managed to stay in this game. The offense was getting pushed around considerably in both the rushing and passing game, but managed to put up 6 points anyway, entirely on the back of the passing game. QB Roger “4th Quarter” Stauback completed 50% of his passes, despite 23 hurries and 2 sacks. The rushing game was non existent and probably better off that they did only try 4 rushing plays, gaining negative total yardage. Instead, the HUC tried to utilize the short passing game as a running game replacement. The leading receivers were the FB Bebi Vegeta with 6 catches and HB “Dirty” “Sanchez” with 6 catches. The team will need more stability and balance to compete in most games.
Minsk Mavericks
Record: 0-1
Last game: 6-50 L to Vampires
Rank - 12
Previous Rank - 12
The Mavericks were eaten alive on the ground. The CPU QB was allowed to play considerably more than would be ideal. Even a tired human is better than a CPU QB, imo. The CPU QB completed just 18% of his passes and was sacked 3 times. The rushing game also struggled with the CPU handling the ball, but managed 6.6ypc and a TD with The “A” Train carrying the ball. I would make a considerable effort to keep the ball in his hands in the rushing game. As I mentioned in the preseason ranking, I’d much rather have lower level humans than higher level CPUs. Not much difference between this team and the bottom 4 teams, who also lost, so the Mavericks retain their ranking.
Nysa Sentinals
Record: 0-1
Last game: 17-34 L to Nuclear Assault
Rank - 13
Previous Rank - 13
This game may actually appear to have been closer than it really was. The Sentinals pulled out 2 late touchdowns in the last 3 minutes and 30 seconds of the game. They do have some things to build on, having managed some good running in the second half, gaining 4.5 ypc while amassing 123 yards. 14 of the Nuclear Assault points also came from 2 kickoff runbacks for TDs. That won’t happen every week…they hope. There might be some hope for the team.
Washington Cowboys
Record: 0-1
Last game: 6-26 L to Cossacks
Rank - 14
Previous Rank - 14
This game played out about how I expected. The Cowboys had trouble keeping the opposing offense off the field due to a lot of rookies starting on Defense. The offensive line played better than I expected on passing plays, allowing the Cowboys to complete 27 of 44 and 1 TD and only allowed 5 hurries and 1 sack. Not bad for a squad employing 2 level 1s and a level 4 in the rotation. They managed a few good drives even getting the ball in the endzone in the 4th quarter.
Constantinople Romans
Record: 0-1
Last game: 0-51 L to Kryptonite
Rank - 15
Previous Rank - 15
The Romans drew a terrible game to start their season. The Kryptonite were simply too strong for the Romans to make any kind of showing. The defense had pressure on the offense all day with 9 hurries, 6 sacks and an INT. The running game didn’t get anything started either with only 24 yards. The Romans did manage a couple of decent drives, but missed a FG on their only chance to score.
Caspian Sea Dragons
Record: 0-1
Last game: 7-63 L to Warheads
Rank - 16
Previous Rank - 16
As was expected, this team struggled. They allowed 705 yards on defense and picked up just 227 yards. They weren’t able to force the Warheads to punt the entire game. That said, the team did have a few bright spots to build on. They only had a few 3 and outs and managed to put up a TD on a second quarter drive. They also rushed the ball surprisingly effectively, averaging 7.8ypc.
Let's just keep in mind that these are power rankings, not win/loss rankings. If you want those, just go look at the standings in your Conference.

So if you're Reuben Droughns of 2007 getting 3.2 per carry, you might kill for 3.7.
