Just wondering, i was looking up at the matchup between T.H.T.S and V.G. over in alpha conference, i noticed they were said to be 33 on rushing and us 30, They had a level 17 starting with a 14 backup, were our starter is level 22 and a backup 19.

just wondering if any culd help me out with this confusion?

Yeah I'd like to know what determines those numbers as well. Sometimes it just makes me think WTF?!?

I thought the scouting bars were just an average of levels too. Scace posted this in another thread:

Not completely true

The bars actually do have quite a bit to do with quality of build, but equipment can enhance things quite a bit.

Example: http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=2767&team2=2764

If you look at the offensive line levels you will see that there is a big difference in levels and the scouting bars are both at 42.

It calculates off the individual scouting report bars, but some positions affect it more than others. Some that should be major factors aren't - like FB doesn't seem to affect Blocking. Scouting report bars never take SAs into account. Some builds emphasize aspects that alter the scouting report bars more than others. And of course, having good depth generally lowers a given match up score, because the backups are factored in.

All this adds up to metrics that are pretty unreliable for any practical purpose. Individual scouting bars and stats are much better indicators.

Oh, and I've been told the 3-4 totally decimates a team's matchup scores.

Good depth only affects the overall total vs. an opponent if the opponent has a very well built higher level, and you have multiple well built guys but at a lower level. Their 1 guy will always "outmatch" your group in the scouting bar. And if you have a high level starter and mid-level backup, it can bring your totals down.

Just ask The Four Horsemen what happened to the bars when I put random players in at every position before our playoff match

If a team sets the proper depth chart, the scouting bars can be a useful starting tool for scouting, but you can do some things to screw with the bars. You still need to do actual scouting, I think, to be competitive, esp. vs. even-matched teams.

+1. Especially the last paragraph.

Since we don't really know how the scouting bars are scored and they've shown themselves to have little bearing on the outcome of the game (and can easily be spoofed), I don't even look at them myself. I go straight to the roster.

Yeah SCACE your scouting bars were truly useless prior to our matchup last year. It did make us do a double take. Your depth chart was fun with CBs backing up every offensive position for example.

I was kind of hoping you'd run out of time to correct your depth chart prior to the start of the game.
