An ancient Chinese mathematical formula was discovered last year and has been brought into the early 20th century through the use of electronic calculators and graph paper. Sorry, its the best we have in Tonga.

Anyway, each week (give or take) I will be projecting the Pro Matchups using the Machine's advanced algorithmic capabilities (usually involving counting to 16 using fingers AND toes).

As a preview however, I submit the Matchup Machine's preseason rankings:

1. Brantford Poontangs
2. The TiT's
3. West Scranton
4. New England
5. Canberra
6. Brisbane
7. East Coast
8. Emerald City
9. New Castle
10. Fiji
11. Perth
12. Wagga
13. Hollywood
14. Aussie
15. Dogdandy
16. Tasmania

No disrespect to anyone on the list....but
Only having played Brantford and Canberra from Alpha (in two championship games), those two would get my nod for #1 and #2 (in no particular order). Brantford has two consecutive undefeated seasons, one in AAA and one in PRO. No championships yet. Canberra has been in back to back Championship games in PRO (with a Title). I believe Brantford has great player builds, and Canberra has great game planning.

Good "early" list....even though there is still a long offseason of acquistions for a lot of those teams still.

I cant wait for the new season. I always appreciate all the rankings people do to spice things up.

Good work.

Yeah, Canberra has won the conference two seasons in a row now, so it's hard to put them anywhere other than #1. Fiji and Newcastle are also a lot better than your ranking reflects. Overall, I think that the rankings are a pretty good starting point, though.

Wow, all I can say is it will be very interesting with the Off. and Def. AI scripts active for season 4.

As it will just add another layer to closing level gaps and shoddy 'basic' game playbook tactics.

Fiji at #10, I look forward to seeing how this pans out for this team I play on

From 2 to 10 would be quite a drop for Fiji...

I agree, Fiji is not getting very much respect in these rankings based off the season they just had.

Yeah, I'm a little biased but why is Canberra so low? I mean yeah, we lost to FFLW, but so did everyone else.

I agree with Fiji being underpromoted. But there is no doubt, the whole league is getting tougher...

and I like it.

Nice to see Perth isn't at the bottom of the barrel. Here's to being more competitive!

I think Perth is going to finish above 11. We've improved quite a bit and several teams seem to have stepped back.

Well, Fiji did drop a clunker in the postseason, so it may be based on when we bailed on the playoffs. That should be part of it, I suppose... but I agree with both points I've read here:

* Fiji ain't 10th in the league
* The league gets tougher each season so it takes a lot to just hold your ground

Wow, Auckland isn't even projected to finish the season in Alpha?
